WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw Review 11/19/12 (Nexus 2)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 11/19/12. After the events of Survivor Series, what happens tonight? Let's find out and start the review.

Match #1: Ryback vs Tensai
We open up the show with Ryback. He's pissed off that a Nexus Two took him out. He wants to eat them for dinner. Vickie decides to roll out the big guns and books….Tensai….yeeeeeaaaaaah. You're definitely punishing Ryback by booking him against Prince Albert. Come on, Tensai wouldn't even want to fight himself. Ryback hits the Shell Shock for the victory. Ryback would come to feast later tonight, but could end up with some food poisoning….

Winner via pinfall: Ryback

Match #2: Kofi Kingston vs Wade Barrett
I think Wade's going the total opposite here. Instead of aiming high, he wants to aim low and chase mid-card gold. In a pretty decent match, Wade wins with the Bull Hammer. I really don't like the idea of Wade going after the IC championship. He's already done it and Wade's a guy who should be chasing world championship gold. To me, this is a missed opportunity. I understand Big Show/Sheamus is the world title rivalry, but how about a #1 Contender match? In fact, how about creating a world championship tournament to determine who gets the world title match after TLC? I'll get used to the idea, but I think they aren't utilizing Wade's full potential. Well, only time will tell how this will turn out.

Winner via pinfall: Wade Barrett

Match #3: Kaitlyn vs Aksana
Funny that we never found out why Aksana decided to work with Eve. Was Aksana using Eve as a replacement for Antonio? I guess Antonio can make you think about a lesbian life after you're finished with him. In a slap fight, Kaitlyn wins this match cleanly. I still think Kaitlyn is still the #1 Contender for the Divas Title, so this victory made sense.

Winner via pinfall: Kaitlyn

Match #4: Antonio Cesaro vs Brodus Clay
R-Truth was on commentary tonight. He didn't take his crazy pills, so that's why there's no little Jimmy tonight. We got a bad-ass here. Antonio wins this match cleanly. I really don't understand why WWE wants to continue the Antonio/Truth rivalry. Their match last night was by far the weakest match at the PPV. They aren't bad in-ring performers, but there seems to be no chemistry between Antonio and Truth. I just can't get into this rivalry. Well, those are my two cents on the rivalry.

Winner via pinfall: Antonio Cesaro

Vickie Guerrero just can't let this storyline die. She brings out two people who talk about what happened with that business dinner. I wouldn't be surprised if they did all of this for a Cena T-shirt. Well, it saves you about $25. Vickie is about to reveal a photo of Cena and AJ starting the prom night after party. Cena comes out and makes out with AJ. Yeah, that isn't gonna help you case, John-boy. AJ follows this up by making out with him some more. And this was the day John Cena pissed off virgins everywhere. So, how many tongues has AJ sucked this year? For the 'nerd girl', she really can come off as the biggest slut in this company. And you thought that title would belong to Eve. Since Dolph Ziggler wants to remain connected with this rivalry, he attacks Cena after the tongue war. This….this…..this….this? What the hell did I just watch? I don't even know what to make of this. The strange thing is for the first time with this storyline, I got somewhat interested since it finally made the world's biggest third grader look like a home-wrecker. Well, whatever to make Cena's character do something more than just be that 'school spirit' guy is okay by me. Later in the night, WWE would make a big deal with Cena appeared to roll his ankle while chasing after Dolph. Why are you so concerned? I thought he was Superman? He'll be fine. In all seriousness, I hope the injury isn't too severe. Oh, and who in the hell takes a photo of somebody getting it on in a car? Stalking 101.

Match #5: Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio; 2 out of 3 Falls match
Sigh…why? Why are we milking another match out of this rivalry? Why can't you just move forward? New rivalries? What are those? Del Rio ends up getting DQ'd when he failed to listen to the referee. Del Rio picks up the second fall by getting Randy to tap out to the Cross Armbreaker. The finish comes when Del Rio misses the Enzuigiri. D'OH, I MISSED!!! This leads to Randy hitting the RKO for the victory. So….can anyone tell me the reason for this match? Cuz I can't seem to find the answer. Your filler match for the evening, ladies and gentlemen!!!

Winner: Randy Orton

Match #6: Great Khali vs Puerto Rican Express
So, what was the point of having Hornswoggle squirt water in Rosa Mendes' face? I guess parents of America complained so much that they had to throw something silly on the program. After all, we just had Sex Education with Cena…Ewww. Khali wins with the Punjabi Plunge and not one laugh was given that day.

Winner via bad comedy: Great Khali

Yeah, you bring Paul Heyman those balloons. Paul would kill for a stash of balloons. May God have mercy on your helium. The mindset of people these days. Am I right? Oh, I should mention that Pauly's deal is to throw CM Punk a giant celebration for Punk having the WWE title for a whole year. I will f*** you up if you don't bring me some balloons right now. Now!!! NOW!!!

Match #7: Miz vs David Otunga
Do you ever notice Miz's face whenever he's about to hit the Skull Crushing Finale on somebody? He has this looks on this face while the opponent is turned around. That's right, boy. You stick out that ass just the way I like it. The Miz has to have his ass. Miz hits the SCF for the clean victory. A match to basically show that Miz has become a good guy and you must cheer for him…..or not. It doesn't matter to me, but whatever.

Winner via pinfall: Miz

Match #8: Sheamus vs Damien Sandow
This was a really good match. It was given a lot of time and I thought it was done rather well. Many will argue as to why Damien had to compete in this match since him and Cody Rhodes were pushing for the tag titles, but we really don't know how long Cody will be out. I think Rhodes Scholars is officially missing class until Cody is healthy. This match doesn't make Sandow look bad since he looked good and took Sheamus about as far as he could. Sheamus wins with the Brogue Kick. There was nothing involving Big Show tonight, but you can save that for SD. Actually development on SD? What the f*** is this?

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus

AJ wants Vickie to do something about Cena's injury, but she won't do anything about it. Is this the WWE or Wal-mart? Benefits, my ass!!! AJ vows she will do something about it, meaning she will put her slut radar into use and make out with a referee. Well, that's what I thought until she invaded the WWE locker room. Damn, when AJ wants to lock lips with a man, there's no stopping her. Joking aside, AJ confronts Dolph about his actions earlier tonight. Dolph goes into a rant in how AJ being a lonely girl has always latched onto something that cares for her, which is why she drives people away. How dare you point out my actual flaws, says the crazy chick as she starts to use double slap on Dolph. Cena arrives for the save, but his injury from earlier tonight holds him back. Dolph ends up taking Cena out to end the scene. WWE's improv team is at work if Cena's injury really did happen. It's kinda weird looking at AJ as the good diva after all of this. Seriously, she isn't that likable if you look at her reactions and actions. One thing I liked about this scene was Dolph's promo. He cut that promo beautifully. That promo showed some cunning and wisdom. I've always said Dolph improved at his promos, but this really set the bar for me. This promo can really make you appreciate what the guy can do. Nice job.

Match #9: Masked Men vs Team Hell No
The Prime Time Players were…on commentary? I'm not sure if they were doing that or stand-up. Titus O'Neil is pretty hilarious. This match wasn't too bad. The finish comes when Kane is about to hit the Chokeslam, but the PTP arrive to interfere. This makes the match a no contest. After the match, mass chaos happens between the three tag teams. Since Rhodes Scholars is out of commission for the time being, I'm fine with these other tag teams making their claim to be the next in line for the tag titles. I'm liking what they've done with the tag division this year. This should be fun.

No Contest

Time for CM Punk's celebration for 365 days as WWE Champion. Pauly brags about how Punk is great and how this audience doesn't appreciate anything since many people brag about how they want the Attitude era back, but claimed they went too far with the fake heart attack. In some ways, he has a point, but I still think the stunt was out of bad taste. Still, way for Heyman to call out the smarks since that's the general outrage that happens every single week on a wrestling forum. Punk comes out and claims he will be the longest reigning WWE Champion in 2018. Yeah, I'm pretty sure by then, WWE Main Event won't even be around, but I digress. Ryback finally comes out and seems ready to attack, but here comes Nexus Two for the attack. Ryback does well for a while, but the combined efforts of Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins is too much to overcome. They send Ryback through an announce table for a second night in a row. Ryback isn't having a good week if that keeps happening. The show ends with Punk standing tall. So, it would seem that the NXT boys are indeed connected with Punk, as they got in the ring after the Ryback attack while they let their master pick the bones. While the WWE hasn't completely explain this alliance, they gave you a couple clues tonight. I thought this was a good way to end the show since it keeps you invested for next week. You can't give everything away in one show.

Overall Impression:
I actually liked tonight's Raw. I thought it was one of the better episodes in a while and I think they keep you asking questions since the NXT guys still haven't been explained. At the same time, they gave you a general idea that these parties are connected. I thought the matches for tonight's show were mostly fair to good. I think after the events of Survivor Series, this was a decent enough of an episode to follow things up. I think the ending of the show still keeps you intrigued to at least watch next week's Raw, so I think they did their job. I think the WWE might be on to something, but I'm aware things can go south in a hurry. We'll talk about that when that happens, but let's enjoy the ride for the time being. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. As always, tell me what you thought of my review or tonight's show. I will see you guys and girls in the next one. See you next time.

  1. Now the smarks are saying WWE killed Ryback's character with these recent attacks and he has lost his push. Aren't these the same people that against him from the start, saying that he was a Goldberg rip-off?

So right now, WWE won't fully explain the connection between Punk and the NXT Trio, which is a smart move since there may or may not be a connection at all.

The problem I saw with the feud between Orton and Del Rio was that Del Rio never got a victory over Orton. While he did have his moments in several brawls, every match those two were in had the Viper as the winner. If they traded wins over the last couple of weeks, the continued rivalry would make sense.

    1. The funny thing is Del Rio did beat Randy, but it was in the middle of Del Rio/Sheamus. So, Del Rio faired better when he wasn't obsessed with a snake.

  2. im just adding something i noticed to the Seth Rollins character change. When CM Punk appeared on NXT to do commentary at Seth Rollins very first title defence against Michael Mcgillicutty, there was talk about respect between the two with Punk applauding at Rollins retention of the NXT title. In the back of my mind, i thought Rollins was going to be a mini-cm punk but i couldn't predict sundays ppv would blow up.

Check it out on youtube or something.

Brownie_the_Third- I would have picked Kassius Ohno too, but to replace babyface Ambrose.

    1. I completely forgot about that and it would make sense if Rollins brings it up whenever the three of them talk about their actions. Hope this storyline is given time to develop and not backfire like Nexus did.

    2. I was under the impression that Dean Ambrose was a heel based on what I've read about him, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thinks Kassius Ohno should be in the group

  3. calling it now, Punk vs Ryback in a tables match at TLC

Raw was good this week, if you edit out the Khali match then it could be called a great Raw. The matches were given a good amount of time so they were able to deliver with the in ring action, story lines were advanced and ground work was laid for future storylines. Although I agree that Barrett shouldn't be going after the IC belt, I would have had Barrett decide to call in his owed favour from Paul Heyman and ask for a title match against Punk. But I'm guessing that the WWE are going to pretend that never happened due to the way they rebooked Survivor Series.

And can I just say to the people that want the attitude era back can I remind you that the attitude era gave us such things as pregnant Mae Young, Pat Patterson vs Gerald Brisco in an evening gown match, Naked Mideon and made WCW think that David Arquette was world champion material and that the world needed to see a Judy Bagwell on a pole match

    1. And that's what I'm talking about. Was the Attitude Era great? Yes, but it did have it's share of stupid/cringe worthy moments. I think people get so hard with their nostalgic boners sometimes that they forget about the dumb things that happened back in the day.

    2. and while I'm at it can I point out that the 'tremendous shackle' that is the PG rating wasn't a problem during the Hulkamania era of the WWF, and it had some great storylines back then and created pro wrestling as we know it today

  4. How about this storyline???
CM Punk , heyman , lesnar , new nexus (obvious choices) , damien sandow forms an alliance... Big show looses at TLC and joins heyman ... lesnar returns at royal rumble to screw rock.. Triple H comes back to confront Lesnar in next raw.. he forms his alliance of rock , ryback , sheamus (without title , he needs to be star without a title now) , dolph ziggler (he gt title at tlc , damien or big show goes for title turning ziggler face like shawn michaels ) nd sadly john cena ......

Ryback will counter lesnar.. By the end of wrestlemania we will have new stars in ziggler , ryback , damien , nexus...

Rock can go back to movies, triple h for desk , lesnar on vacation nd our stars fight it out... then ryback can be made champion ..
