WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Impact Wrestling 11/29/12 Review (Hogan Doesn't Know Best)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Impact Wrestling 11/29/12. After a week off, does TNA Land manage to impress? Let's find out and begin.

We open up the show with Hulk Hogan. It's time for Hogan to get some answers regarding Austin Aries accusations on Brooke Hogan picking up a bully. So, this happened last week? Hmm….I think I did all of you a favor by NOT reviewing it. Hogan calls out Bully Ray to explain himself. Brooke comes out and claims she isn't a child anymore. Well, not when you're jumping into sugar daddy territory. Aries gets on the titantron and claims this is mass chaos. You damn straight, it is. So, TNA actually went forward with Brooke/Bully? I'm sorry, but I don't like this idea. I'm sure Bully can play the part for this role, but its almost unnecessary drama. Hell, you already have Hogan dealing with Aces and Eights, then you have Hogan getting off on Matt Morgan's rage, and now you have this. I know it's common for the GMs of the wrestling show to take up the entire show, but there is way way WAY too much Hogan cock coming out of your television. Perhaps I'm being too harsh on this idea, but just say it out loud. Brooke and Bully in a possible relationship, while Hogan isn't happy with it? Is this TNA or a really bad episode of Hogan Knows Best? Oh, and here's some wrestling logic for you. Hogan has a problem with Brooke dating a wrestler, but is perfectly okay having her act like a whore with the rest of the KOs for the TNA commercial. Aw yes, sexism on a wrestling show. How you've been missing…for about 45 seconds.

Match #1: Mickie James vs Gail Kim
In a short but fair match, Mickie wins with a DDT. So, when does that Mickie/Tara interaction happen? This is the new way to build a storyline. Have the rivals NOT talk towards one another. That will surely build up the suspense….or boredom. Ugh…

Winner via pinfall: Mickie James

Hogan evaluates who gets the X Division title match for later tonight. Hogan ends up eliminating Kenny King since Kenny hasn't been on this show for months. As much as I don't like Kid Kash, this actually made sense since Eric Young has made more of a difference in the past three months than Kenny. I think that statement pretty much sums it all up. Bobby Roode talks about becoming the TNA world champion and pokes fun of the fact that Jeff Hardy barely beat Christian York. Christian takes offense to that and slaps Bobby. We appear to have a match. I like the fact they are using Christian. They need to start doing this more with Gut Check contestants. Lord knows they haven't done anything with that majority of these guys. What? You gotta wrestle to earn a paycheck? What is this madness?

Match #2: Bobby Roode vs Christian York
Did Tazz just say he doesn't respect Christian? Didn't Tazz give him the vote of confidence to be on this show? Tazz's commentary really makes no sense sometimes. I get he's trying to play the heel, but he tends to contradict himself with the same attention span of a squirrel. In a fair match, Bobby wins with the Cross-face. Hardy runs out there for the post-match beat-down. So far, the build between Bobby and Hardy has been very basic. That's a good and bad thing. The storyline just started, so I can forgive it for being a little rusty to start off, but if this is gonna be a long-term feud, they need to add more to the table than it being about the Megatron title.

Winner via submission: Bobby Roode

Kurt Angle is trying to pay off the Gut Check judges. Eh, just go buy Tazz a cheeseburger and I think he will give you his vote. It makes sense since he'll forget about it in a minute. Aces and Eights took out EY? YEEEEEEEEES!!! It's about time. It's true what they say. It's the little things in life. At the same time, all you get with Aces and Eights is Devon wanting the TV title back and….that's it. I don't think the president of Card Games has paid his crew recently. This would explain why they did nothing this week. They were on strike. As for Devon/Samoa Joe….who cares?Who I'm actually being serious. Does anybody really care about this match?

Match #3: James Storm and AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels and Kaz
TNA is continuing the storyline of Styles being distracted. Yeah, cuz it went so well the first time you did it this year. I really don't know why TNA just can't move on from this Styles/Daniels nonsense. They have beaten the dead horse so much that the bones have been turned to dust. Stop this animal cruelty already!!! Storm wins this match with the Last Call.

Winner via pinfall: James Storm and AJ Styles

Match #4: Matt Morgan vs Doug Williams
So, Joey Ryan and Morgan are now chasing the tag titles? This is kinda getting confusing. I honestly don't see the point of putting Joey in the X Division title match last month if you were just gonna throw him into tag team wrestling. I don't have a problem with them being a tag team, but my---Oh well. Filler is filler, I suppose. Morgan wins easily with the Carbon Footprint. I would've preferred Morgan defeating either Chavo or Hernandez for tag team build up, but this works as well.

Winner via pinfall: Matt Morgan

I love how the Gut Check judges are having issues with decided if Wes Brisco should get a contract or not. Isn't he the only GC guy to even WIN his match? Well, by that logic, either give him the contract immediately or just fire Garett Bischoff since he obviously failed. One thing to note is that earlier in the night, Al Snow failed to show up for the judging. D'Lo Brown had the final say if Wes got the contract or not. I felt I should bring this up since this will probably be used as a plot device. In fact, I can see it being revealed that Snow was gonna fail Wes, so Wes kicked his ass and threw him in a freezer in order to get a job. I kinda hope they use this to some degree in order to add to Wes' character. It's a working progress. Wes' kick-out promo was very weak. It was just more bulls*** that you would hear in an episode of Yi-Gi-Oh when somebody is telling you to believe in the heart of the cards. Geeze, you've done this for just about every version of the GC. Enough of that s*** already. Originality? What's that?

Match #5: RVD vs Austin Aries; X Division Title
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the rest of the evaluation for the X Division title match. Hogan ends up giving the title shot to Aries….Even though the guy basically called his daughter a slut. Yeah, I love how that works. I know, its because Hogan doesn't trust Bully and probably rewarded Aries for telling him the 'facts', but you really have no evidence that Bully and Brooke did anything. Yes, that would be more wrestling logic for you. This was the best match of the night. It wasn't bad to watch since it was given a decent amount of time. Aries is about to win the title, but Bully comes out to defend his baby girl. The match ends up resulting in a DQ. Hogan comes out, but stares down Bully. I really don't know what to think of this. While it gives Aries something to do, he will most likely get a rematch for the X title. I understand that he's out of the world title picture, but it seems like a step backwards to have Aries go back towards chasing the X Division title. Especially since the title has meant nothing since Aries gave it up. Still, this is probably the first time the X title will mean anything, so that could be a good thing. Also, Aries has thrown himself back into a rivalry with Bully since he keeps attacking Brooke. Sigh…..I really don't know what to make of any of this either. I don't like the idea of Brooke/Bully, but what will probably end up happening is Brooke dating another wrestler on the roster. I got money riding on Gunner since we need to use more pointless wrestlers on this show. Brooke dating the garbage-man. It practically writes itself into a coma. YAY!!!

Winner via DQ: Austin Aries (RVD is still X Division champ)

Overall Impression:
TNA must've put a lot of stuff together for last week's Thanksgiving episode. I'll admit that I didn't watch it, so that's why I was a bit confused on the new details. It didn't take me long to get caught up to speed. I'm starting to think it was a blessing having to miss the Thanksgiving episode based off of tonight. Okay, it wasn't that bad, but there was a few things done tonight that I'm not very big on. I'm not big on the Brooke/Bully deal, and while RVD/Aries brings some importance to the X title, I just find it to be a step backwards for Aries. I think RVD/Aries is just a pawn since the real feud is Bully/Aries, but why are they fighting? Since when did Bully become this knight in shining armor? I know he's playing the role of a face now, but it's just not believable since Bully is a more convincing heel than face. I'm fine with the Joey and Morgan going after the tag titles, but it would've been nice for Morgan to defeat either Chavo or Hernandez in a singles match to add more development into the rivalry. While Snow's absence makes Wes' development at least somewhat intriguing, I wasn't impressed with the promo. I'm just sick of hearing the "it's my dream" promo for the GC. It's old and washed out. As for tonight's matches, they were okay, but nothing that's overly amazing. I'm sorry, but is this the best TNA can give you? While the WWE doesn't have some of the best storylines as of right now (Cena/AJ), TNA isn't exactly doing anything to capitalize. While the show is somewhat watchable, I personally had a really hard time watching this show. I was bored out of my mind. TNA took a lot of steps backwards tonight. I can't recommend this show. If you liked it, more power to you, but this didn't sit well with me. I'm gonna wrap this up before I piss off more TNA die hards. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. As always, tell me what you thought of my review or tonight's show. I will see you guys and girls in the next one. See you next time.

  1. How could you have missed last weeks show it opened with Garret Bishoff vs Wes Brisco the greatest dream match ever conceived why tna would even give it away on free tv is a mystery.

  2. You may notice that Aces and 8's has been pushed by the waste side. Here is my theory why.

I think TNA creative is aware that smarks know Bischoff and Jarrett are the two leaders of the group. So what they are doing is pushing the angle to the side until the fans forget about them (wrestling fans have short attention spans right?) Then they spring the big reveal somewhere down the road just to catch the fans off-guard.

  3. tna aint great, but the wrestling is, at times, watchable.. and somtimes, slightly more than rarely, even fun and exciting to watch.. the storylines are often lame and repetative and the acting usually bad.. there are moments that make me chuckle and others that keep my intrigue into what will happen next, however rare these moments are..

... and yet i can still stand to watch tna... but i jus cant watch wwe...

does ring of honor show anymore?
