WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Impact Wrestling Review 8/9/12

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Impact Wrestling 8/9/12. Intro of some sort……let's start the review.

We open up the show with Bully Ray. He has started the Bully Nation, which is the tough guy version of the Cenation…

Reason #501 for John Cena fans to hate my guts, even though I respect the guy. Bully also talks about his Twitter Machine. Is that an innuendo? Nobody needs to hear about your twitter machine. Put your twitter machine away. You shouldn't be whipping out your twitter machine in public. What the hell am I doing? Anyway, Bully thinks James Storm is leading the Insane Clown Posse. It's funny how there's no real proof that Storm is leading this group, but the WRESTLING LOGIC is supposed to show the slow, thinking process of the wrestlers. Anyway, Storm arrives and says if anyone accuses him of working with Aces and Eights, he is ready to fight. That's when A & 8 gets on the titantron. Wow, even more WRESTLING LOGIC since this group manages to get the production staff to show their video. Since Sting invited the stable to show up last week, they will be playing poker at their leisure…..At least that's what I thought they said. I don't know if it was the echo in the room or the altered voice, but I had a hard time hearing what A & 8 were saying. Luckily, TNA showed a replay of this and I was able to re-listen to this, but this is something TNA should improve upon if they plan on making this a regular thing. To be fair, my hearing sucks, so it's possible that it was me with the issue and not the voice. So, this opening brings up the main event for tonight, and it also digs into the conspiracy theory that Storm is leading the evil stable. It does the job. Bully's antics are always pretty hilarious. He really is one the best performers in TNA.

Match #1: RVD vs Magnus; BFG Series
Mr. Anderson was on commentary. He forgot this show is live, so that's why it sounded like he didn't give a s***. Seriously, its like he forget he was working. RVD wins with the Frog Splash. The match didn't last long. Then again, we are on the week of the PPV, so I don't expect them to go all out for this. It was kind of a meaningless match, since I don't see either guy getting to the finals of the BFG Series. But hey, whatever pays the bills.

Winner via pointless points: RVD

Match #2: Kaz and Christopher Daniels vs Devon and Garett Bischoff; TNA Tag Titles
This also seems like a pointless match. Yeah, do you see the amazing progress in the TNA tag division? Yeah, I'm just blown away by this division *cough*. The bad guys win by hitting Devon with the championship belt during all the shenanigans. There was no follow-up with the All My Retards, so it makes this match even more pointless. Maybe TNA wanted to give you a minor break from Claire Lynch?

Winner via pinfall and still Tag Champs: Kaz and Daniels

Robbie E is in the ring and brags about earning five points. Are you serious? Bragging about five points? That would be like bragging that you ALMOST qualified for the Olympics. He says he will send Jeff Hardy through a table to get his points. Hardy arrives and this start a fight between Hardy and Robbie T. He slaps Robbie E, but Robbie T is back up and attacks Hardy. The segment ends with Robbie T sending Hardy through a table. I know I should question this scene, but I really just don't care. The budget ran out, so they are just rolling with anything to kill the time. I'm not the biggest fan of Hardy, but it would make a lot more sense to give him a storyline/feud. In fact, there's a lot of people without much of a storyline at the moment. I guess that's what happens when you have the BFG Series. In fact, it's because of this series that the TV Championship stop getting defended. To be honest, I'm glad they put a halt on that. I see people complaining about this and I say, "So, you're telling me you WANT to see Devon wrestling matches?" Yeah, that's what I thought.

Match #3: AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle; BFG Series
To add more pain to the silly storyline of Claire Lynch, Styles claims that he doesn't drink, so there's no way he could be the father. Here's a new drinking game for you. Take a shot every time there's a plot hole in this storyline. You might actually die from this. Despite the silly nature of this storyline, this was a good match. Kurt and Styles continue to go out there and put together some fun matches. After a ton of counters and near falls, the finish comes when Kurt hits the Angle Slam for the victory. After the match, Claire gives Styles encouragement, but he blows her off. Yeah, Styles is such a great role model. Maybe Styles and Sheamus can start a program.

Winner via pinfall: Kurt Angle

A & 8 vow to name their target tonight. I like how this stable says they are giving people the deadman's hand, but the only one they've taken out is Hulk Hogan. This stable gives you nothing but empty promises. In a related story, Anderson believes that Storm is controlling the stable. Oh, we have a bad-ass here…..LOLZ. Oh, I can't even say that with a straight face.

Match #4: Tessmacher vs Gail Kim
Tessmacher wins with the Tess Shocker. After the match, Madison Rayne arrives and makes out with Earl Hebner. Earl faints afterwords. Yeah, I bet it has been a while since he's felt that. I don't know about you, but Tessmacher isn't doing it for me as KO champion. She isn't bad, but she isn't exciting at the same time. Then again, do you really care?

Winner via pinfall: Tessmacher

It's time for the contract signing between Bobby Roode and Austin Aries. Bobby won't sign the contract because it stats that he will NOT get a shot at the world title if A Double is still the champ. Aries re-negotiates another deal with Roode. If Roode loses, he doesn't get another rematch, but if Aries loses, he loses his rematch, meaning that this will be the final match between Bobby and Aries. Roode accepts the offer, but not before spitting the ultimate weapon in Aries' face. I know the internet is probably gonna be upset with this, but I think Aries is gonna drop the title. Even when Aries got the title, I said that it would only last a month. If Roode gets the title on Sunday, where does Aries go from here? Well, they have established him as a main eventer, so I would think they would continue to give the guy something to work on. Maybe it can be something with or against Aces and Eights? Then again, who really knows. If TNA wanted Aries' world title reign to not be a waste, they better find a way to keep him in a major storyline or working with main event names. Let's see what they do.

Match #5: James Storm vs Bully Ray; BFG Series
This match was okay. The finish comes when Bully hits the Bully Cutter for the victory. After the match, Aces and Eights are back on the titantron. Instead of coming out, it turns out that the poker game was more interesting than the actual show, so they announce that at Hardcore Justice, Bully will need to be on notice. The show ends with Bully arguing with Storm, as Storm just leaves without saying anything. Once again, they add more suspicion that Storm is behind the stable. I don't know why, but I was thinking of the possibility of it being Anderson. Then again, this idea makes me feel sad. Yeah, so I mentioned that the PPV is this week. I forgot that the PPV was gonna be this week. There are a couple of intriguing matches, but I felt they didn't do the best job hyping up the event. In fact, that's happened for the last couple of TNA PPVs. At the same time, the last two TNA PPVs have been good, so maybe they can do the same thing for a third time.

Winner via pinfall: Bully Ray

Overall Impression:
I wasn't expecting much for the go-home edition tonight. The action didn't really shine (minus the Kurt/Styles match), but this was the go-home edition of TNA. You want to keep your talent healthy for the PPV, so it makes sense to roll out fair matches as opposed to amazing matches. They finally touched basis with the world title match, but it feels like TNA has focused more on Roode/Storm than Roode/Aries, which is why I feel that Bobby will take the title back this Sunday. They did touch basis with a few of the BFG Series matches for the PPV, but they were uneventful. In fact, they barely mentioned the Ladder match, while you get Robbie E to hype up the Tables match? Who's idea was this? Robbie E doesn't make me want to buy the PPV. Robbie E makes me want to read a book, but I digress. Yeah, so I guess what I'm trying to get at here is the PPV buildup could've been better. The show was average, but not very insightful. In fact, you could say that this was a filler episode. Seems that's been happening a lot lately. Well, that's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. As always, tell me what you thought of my review or tonight's show. I will see you guys and girls on the next WrestlingNerd show. See you next time.

  1. "Maybe Styles and Sheamus can start a program." hahaha :')

Btw did you hear about what Kevin Nash said on twitter? I thought you'd find this amusing, he basically said wrestling died when guerrero and benoit hugged at that WM. He said wrestlers who are small shouldn't be wrestlers as pornstars with '3 inch penis'' shouldn't be pornstars! wtf?!!

Jericho replied and basically said he was an NWO third wheel, and that he couldn't wrestle etc. and then said 'i'm surprised you didn't tear your quad whilst tweeting' ahaha. Genius.

Love Jericho, but can you believe Nash? HBK is his best friend too!

    1. I tend to stay away from things like twitter and the dirt sheets involving the wrestling world. However, I have heard something like that. Regardless, I guess Nash forgot about guys like Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Yeah, cuz THAT makes total sense.

.....This just in, Nash's account was hacked by the same guy who 'hacked' Kurt Angle's accounts. We're gonna get that guy one of these days.....

    1. Oh, no no no no. I don't hate John Cena. In fact, I have really grown to respect the guy. There are moments where I feel WWE goes overboard with the Cena cock. I know the face of the company has to look strong, but by doing this, you making anyone else who locks up against the guy look pathetic.

  3. I do have to admit that for the first time ever Robbie E. bragging in the ring that he had 5 points actually gave him some personality!

  4. For some ridiculous reason (I don't watch TNA like at all) but I thought the PPV was last Sunday.

  5. Anderson is the guy behind Aces & Eights! Think about it, Anderson starts with "A", the same as Aces, and there are 8 letters in his last name. How's that for a C-O-N....spiracy!

  6. Two things I was expecting to read but it wasn't really mentioned. Firstly was how good the Angle / Styles match was. Well, it was for me anyway, they deliver matches that feel like ppv matches even on impact. It was longer than usual, tna are doing that a fair bit lately. Longer matches and much better ones. They should keep that up and get rid of the fluffy matches like Devon, Garrett, Robbie E etc.

Secondly was that Bully beat Storm with from what I could see was a clean win. When does Bully ever win anything?! Everyone was so concerned with the Aces and 8s that they seemed to glance over that Storm lost! Storm has beaten Angle about 5 times in a row cleanly now and Bully gives it a go and Storm loses, really?! So by that logic Bully is better than Angle, er, what?

Oh, also just found out that Claire Lynch is porn star.....her sections might not be so bad to watch now. The baby could be anyones!!!
