WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw Review 6/4/12

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 6/4/12. How do things go this week? Let's find out and start the review.

We open up the show with Michael Cole interviewing John Cena. Cole blames Cena for Big Show's reign of terror because he didn't go out there and support his friend on the night Show got "fired". Cena's argument is that he wanted to get rid of the robot bully, John Laurinaitis, and how the new GM would hire Show back in a heartbeat. Luckily, Cole questions what logic would throw at you and claims there's no proof that a new GM would hire back Show. He totally has a point here. Cole also claims that Cena only cares about himself, is wrapped up in his ego, and thinks Cena is overrated. I think Cole just earned himself one million points from the IWC. Johnny arrives in the People Power scooter. I seriously want one. I want it on my doorstep tomorrow morning. Anyway, Johnny informs us that Show is taking the week off because he's facing criminal charges of killing off an endangered dinosaur. Johnny offers Cena the opportunity to face anybody he wants, but it can't be Johnny since he's retired from in-ring action. Oh, and it wouldn't have anything to do with all the kayfabe injuries Johnny has? I'm just checking in on that one. Cena decides to pick the person who pissed him off recently, so it will be Cena vs Cole later tonight. Johnny? Joooooohhhhhhhnnnnnnnny!!! Yeah, Cole isn't happy about this. In fact, he tried to persuade Johnny to reverse the decision, but robots only care about themselves, so Cole is on his own. This was a fair way to open up the show. I can see people not liking it, but I was fairly entertained during this part.

Match #1: Sheamus vs Dolph Ziggler
So, we get the same match that was on Smackdown last week. Why? Because the Raw script got mixed with the script from last week. This was still a good match, but I personally thought the match they had on SD was better than tonight. Still, it was a fair match to watch. The finish comes when Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick for the victory. I think the reason I can see people not caring about this is because it was similar to the match that happened on SD last week. Plus, it was roughly the same finish. After the match, Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez arrive to take out Sheamus with the Cross Armbreaker. Looks like Sheamus has been….disarmed. BOOOOOOOO!!!!

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus

Match #2: Sin Cara vs Hunico
We found out that Vince McMahon will be appearing on Raw next week to conduct an evaluation on Johnny Five. Ummm, didn't the BOD take away Vince's power? Oh, it's WRESTLING LOGIC, so why do I even bother? The Cena vs Cole graphic was hilarious. They possibly picked the worst Cole photo ever. I was kinda hoping they would use this….

Anyway, for a short match, I really liked it. It was pretty much a match to show all the cool stuff Sin Cara can do. I think it worked pretty well. The finish comes when Sin Cara hits La Mistica for the victory. The red ranger is going strong.

Winner via pinfall: Sin Cara

Match #3: Ryback vs jobbers from space
There was a couple of people reflecting on Raw as they approach their 1000th episode. Cena's favorite moment was the first time he debuted on Raw. Maybe Cole is right about Cena's ego? Anyway, the jobbers were named Arthur Rosenberg and Stan Stansky. The names are a little funnier this time around, but how can you top Billy Camer? Ryback kills both guys with the double Muscle Buster. Bring me more……gummy bears!!! I'm gonna keep doing this until WWE gives him an actual rival.

Winner via pinfall: Ryback

Match #4: CM Punk vs Kane
Daniel Bryan arrived to do a little Q & A. Was it a good Q & A?

Bryan stays to watch this match. I like how they put the tagline "There must be a winner". Makes you wonder why that isn't a tagline for EVERY match they put on? Oh, but we know the answer to that question. Like the Punk/Kane match on SD last week, this was a decent match to watch. The finish comes when AJ arrives and…..seduces the referee? Okay, I know she was telling him about Bryan's involvement, but is it really working? Punk ends up taking Bryan out with a suicide dive on Bryan, but completely forgot about Kane. The big guy hits a Chokeslam on Punk and ends up picking up the victory. After the match, Kane stalks AJ, but AJ starts to flirt with Kane. This is the advantage of wearing a mask. You have no idea what Kane's reaction is to all of this. After a commercial break, AJ starts to flirt with Josh Matthews. AJ might be cute, but she's completely insane. Whatever happens at No Way Out, she will definitely have an involvement in the match. AJ goes with whoever is the champion or defeats the champion. Watch out, Sheamus.

Winner via pinfall: Kane

Match #5: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks
This was a so-so match. It wasn't bad, but not very memorable. The finish comes when Kofi hits the Trouble in Paradise on Hawkins. Remember that whole Primo/Epico/AW thing? Whatever happened to that? I almost thought they were gonna cash-in their rematch clause during this spot, but that didn't turn out to be the case. This is what happens when you green light an idea and aren't sure what to do with it. It kinda looks bad.

Winner via pinfall: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth

Match #6: John Cena vs Tensai
As we are getting set for the Cena/Cole match, Johnny arrives and says the Cena/Cole match will be a NO DQ match IF Cena is able to defeat Tensai. You know? The guy that shows up every two weeks. Yeah, this Tensai idea was gold, am I right? To make this idea shine even more, Cena defeats Tensai with the AA. Yeah, I don't think this Tensai deal is gonna last much longer. Then again, it had red alarms surrounding it the second the character was called "Tensai". Still, it's amazing how you go from "Lord Tensai" to "Tensai" and to this. What do we call him after this? Losersai? After the match, Tensai rolls out of the ring and the Cole/Cena match begins.

Winner via pinfall: John Cena

Match #7: John Cena vs Michael Cole; No DQ
Cole tries to run through the audience, but Cena manages to catch him. He goes after Cole, but doesn't go after Johnny at the previous PPV? Eh, whatever. Cena drags Cole in the ring and Cole begs Cena to call it off. All of the sudden, Cole comes down with a case of bi-polar and starts to get angry with Cena. That's when Cena starts to……strip him down to his underwear? Okay, I know Cena's going through a rough stretch with his divorce, but I don't think this is the way to go. Cena forces Cole to apologize to King and JR. Okay, the "it's slobber-knocker good" was pretty hilarious. Okay, so why does King have 3-4 bottles of JR's BBQ sauce under the announcer's desk? He says he always bring it with him. Who goes around with that much BBQ sauce? Does he eat ribs in between commercial breaks? Does he use it for his sick fetishes involving the WWE Divas? Seriously, why is it there? I want a storyline on why King brings JR's BBQ sauce with him. The people must know. Cena brings a fire extinguisher to the ring…..yeah? Can I go home now? At some point, Tensai got back up and hit that Choke Bomb on Cena. So, was Tensai just standing on the ground for about 5 minutes? You gotta love how wrestling finishers change on their effectiveness. I guess I should've had that extra protein shake? Anyway, Cole pins Cena, but Cena still manages to kick out at two. This proves how weak Tensai has become. The finish comes when Cole tries to use the extinguisher as a weapon, but walks into the AA. So, two Cena matches in one night? Well, this might be a little much for some people. Yeah, it was a comedy main event, so it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Still, I can see how this can turn some people away from the show. Then again, if you don't like Cole, this match might work for you.

Winner via pinfall: John Cena

Overall Impression:
I found this Raw better than the last couple of weeks, but was it work checking out? Well, it really felt like a filler show. Not a lot of things were new and very little was established. In fact, the only thing that was established was AJ's character. Everything else just seems like it was there. In fact, a good chunk of the show was recycled from last week's SD. I do admit the show was better than the last couple of weeks, but I don't think it really makes this show stand out. I did laugh throughout most of this show, but that was probably because of Cole being over-the-top. Still, you might get an enjoyment if you allow your mind to just drift away. Then again, I always tell people to never take wrestling seriously. I would consider this show somewhere around the average territory. The show will be three hours next week, so let's hope they got something in-store for the show because there is very little interest for the No Way Out PPV. Well, let's hope the blue brand can do better once again. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. As always, tell me what you thought of my review or tonight's show. I will see you guys and girls on the next WrestlingNerd show. See you next time.

  1. Id give raw a thumbs up! However apart from the two main themes (wwe championship, and the Cena feud) nothing seems to be happening in the wwe!
Good review though, look forward to your next one

  2. Cena actually wrestled three matches that night, I was there and after the show they had a triple threat match with Cena, otunga and big show! Cena won despite johnny interfering. You have to admire the guys work rate, unbelievable. He even delivered a good promo with cole. Finally he's getting really positive reactions from the crowd. It's more of a 80/20 split now.
Thanks for the review, solid work as ever

    1. fully respect that guy. Hate the wwe for over working him though! 3 matches and a promo! waaaaaaay too much

  3. Here is an idea for Ryback's first feud: have him face Damien Sandow so we can have fewer squash matches on RAW and SMACKDOWN. Plus I am sure Sandow can make some hilarious comments towards Ryback. Or have him face Tensai since some folks have pointed out WWE pretty much drop the ball with him (as they always do amirite).

Off to make a rant on how I am more creative than the writers of this company.

    1. i don't think they'll have two new comers against each other. I agree with his against tensai though, that'll be good and hopefully mean tensai will go back to japan and ryback fully over with the crowd

    2. I actually have to agree on the UK getting a WWE PPV. That audience can really make the show come alive and I'm sure they will be up in arms for the event. Damn time zones.

    3. Yeah, I wouldn't put Ryback and Sandow in a rivalry against one another. I wouldn't mind Tensai since the gimmick has pretty much failed at this point. It makes me feel bad for Albert since I think he's performing well, but the character is really hard to buy.

  4. This was a horrible episode. TNA has actually been better the last two weeks. Can't believe it. Cena has won back some fans, only for WWE to slam as much of him down our throats as possible. It's not the amount of Cena, it's the over the top, lame, un-wrestling, bbq sauce bullshit context in which we constantly receive it.

    1. you can't honestly say tna has been better. You're mad mate

    2. And you're insane to actually think WWE has been good lately. TNA is taking chances, I like the backstage segments they've being doing. Is Hogan annoying? Yes. Is Cena garbage? Yes. Both products have huge annoyances. Just that TNA for TWO WEEKS has put on more ENTERTAINING SHOWS. Don't be a mindless WWE cheese eating rodent. I want both companies to succeed so we have superior products to enjoy.

    3. @strange: i have to agree with the person above you. Tna has been worse than the wwe and will be for a long while. Wwe has a few interesting elements and that's why they get a 3.2 rating on raw consistently. Tna get below 1.0 because they can't book at all, they're wrestlers are below par(sad to say, they're even worse than the wwe's), and their management in hulk hogan is atrocious.
You called him a " mindless wwe rodent"? Really? :L awks for you

    4. For all i know you're the same guy. You seem to be missing the fact that I said the "LAST TWO WEEKS." Is it impossible for you Cena fan boys to realize that Impact can be better than Raw for one or two shows? Jesus Christ. SMDH. "awks"? What are you a 14 year old? Oh okay, makes sense now.

    5. So many things wrong with what you said just now. Firstly, it's not the same person as the guy before me!
Be delusional all you want buddy, but practice your insults and work on your grammar.
TNA (i'm sure the majority of people will agree), has been better than usual but still no match for the wwe lately.
I don't particularly like Cena either, fully respect the guy but don't support him or anything.

    6. What I'm trying to practice is leaving my fucking opinion on a blog without being argued with. I suppose coming up with unique insults is confusing, as you probably live and breath through the internet. See, it's called creativity. Try it (...WWE) some time.
LOL... "work on your grammar" - Really? Grammar Nazi who reads this blog? I love the WrestlingNerd, but if you want to complain about grammar...Really?...

    8. I'm really sorry. Its true I have nothing better to do. I wasn't myself earlier. I do make stupid, unfunny jokes and I act like a child. I have no knowledge about wrestling and so please accept my apology. I hope you get better soon.
I proof read this several times, hope there's no errors.
Btw I'm actually 14 haha Im just making stupid jokes as usual.

    9. Awww. Now I hurt the trolls feelings... It's okay. You'll be fine. Next time just stfu and bring something productive to the convo. Very mature and clever to use my name too. I'm in shock. But I think we'll all be okay!!!

  5. This RAW was not that good.Hell, it outright sucked by the end. The Punk/Kane match was basically the highlight for me. Other than that, weak matches, Ryback, and a comedy segment I'm baffled by how it was enjoyed.

Also, I really want Lawler beaten o a pulp due to his constant reminding the audience of the Cena/Cole match.
