WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw 2/25/13 Review (Twice in a Lifetime)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 2/25/13. What sort of shenanigans are in store for this week? Let's find out and begin. 

We open up the show with Vince McMahon vs Paul Heyman. Both men go out there and put on the match of the year. It was compared to Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels. After the match, the men served toast to the audience and proceeded to eat live scorpions. That's the whole show, so I guess the review is over. Well, that's all I got. See you guys and girls next week….

Okay, that's enough. The fight goes the way you would expect until Brock Lesnar hits his cue to confront the chairman after Vince got the upper hand on Pauly. Vince and Brock are in the middle of the ring yet again. Let's see….3…..2…..1…..and Triple H hits his cue. It's amazing how it's never late. The two proceed to beat the crap out of each other. This scuffle got pretty graphic. Brock was spewing blood all over the place. I've already expressed how I'm not excited for Brock/Trips since the match was below par last year, but what I'm hoping for is something along the lines of a gimmick match. Not sure what type of gimmick I would like to see, but they need something to make the match more meaningful than their encounter at SummerSlam. 

Match #1: Ryback vs Dolph Ziggler

In a solid match, Ryback wins this match with the Shell Shock. Not really sure what the match accomplishes since Ryback and Dolph's rivals didn't interact at all this week. Oh well. The match quality is good enough to make me put this on the back-burner for the time being…..but-ick-ik-me-neh-ba-ich-k-be-ga.

CM Punk comes out to proclaim he's God. Yep….He's a God now. Let's ask Jesus how he feels about this….

Oh, I'm gonna get into so much trouble now. Hey, it's only a joke. I really liked Punk's promo here. It sets up the main event for tonight while Punk is trying to get something going for WrestleMania season…whatever that may be. 

Match #2: Mark Henry vs Khali

Henry squashes Khali in a matter of minutes. It makes you wonder what the point was for Henry retreating last week. It looks like WWE wrote an idea, but scrapped it immediately. This is something I like to call, 'f*** the script'. This is where you see an obvious change with wrestling based on how things looked one or two weeks ago. Hell, all you have to write is 'Henry/Khali' and you know that idea is gonna get shot down….At least you would think.

A Miz TV segment between Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, and Zeb Coulter. Del Rio claims this country is for everyone, while Zeb continues to bark about how immigrants are stealing the opportunity. Derb de der!!! What is this, wrestling or Fox News? I did enjoy this segment but it can be a very touchy subject to talk about. If you're looking for my thoughts on the stuff talked about, don't hold your breath. I tend to stay out of political issues on this page since it isn't something I want to talk about. One thing I can talk about is Zeb calling out Glenn Beck. I haven't done the full research myself, but it seems Glenn thinks that the WWE is full of idiots, while Zeb defends the company he works for. Yeah, fight the powa!!! It's great to see some pride on the matter, but does anybody else think WWE is going a little overboard with this? It just seems like WWE is trying to milk the mainstream attention on this until it's bone dry. It's another person slamming the wrestling industry. Stop the presses? This happens everywhere you go, so it almost seems sad to keep addressing the manor. He doesn't like wrestling, so address it once and move on. If you keep going on and on about it, you start coming off as PETA, and that's not a complement. I know some people wanted me to bring up Swagger's off-field antics within the last week, but it doesn't seem like WWE really cares at the matter. Well, at least for the time being. If Swagger's main event ends early, this is the perfect example of what drugs can do to you in America. 

Match #3: Randy Orton vs Antonio Cesaro

This match was so short that I didn't even get to see it originally. I saw a replay of this match and Randy wins with the RKO. Can you say 'pushover' in five different languages?

Sheamus talks Oscars, but what it really boiled down to was Sheamus making fun of Wade Barrett's cameo in a movie while Wade's so full of himself. It seems that my hunch was correct from a week ago and a Sheamus/Wade could be lined up for WM. 

Match #4: Cody Rhodes vs R-Truth

One week Cody is picking up victories, but this week he can't defeat Truth? This is another example of 'f*** the script'….

Damien Sandow criticizes Truth for attacking him last week. After Truth's victory, Sandow tries to attack but ends up getting tossed over by Truth. Not really sure where this is going, but I would guess this would lead to both of these guys reuniting with their former tag teams. If that happens, it would be another example of 'f*** the script'….

Match #5: Team Hell No vs Prime Time Players

Thanks to biting off more than they can crew, Team Hell No competed in this match with a couple of stipulations. Bryan had a blindfold on during this match, while Kane had one arm tied behind his back. Why is it every time somebody is blindfolded in these matches, they almost attack the referee? I know this is played up for laughs, but that stunt has been done to death. Enough of that crap. Anyway, Hell No is able to pick up the victory thanks to the superpower of teamwork! So, they have been bickering back and forth for weeks, but now this happens? While I see what they're attempting here, it just seems confusing to role with this approach. It makes it feel like their rivalry just went down a garbage disposal. It's rather odd to say the least.

The Shield basically calls out the entire WWE roster since nobody has been able to defeat them. I don't know why, but Roman Reigns makes me laugh for all the wrong reasons. This guy shouts in the most random spot. Sheamus calls them out since the man wants to be in two feuds at once. Attention whore! What this does is draw attention away from Randy Orton, who comes from behind to hit an RKO on Seth Rollins. Yeah, leaving him alone in the ring seemed like a stupid move on their part. Wrestling logic told him to stay behind so the WWE roster could make a statement. It shows that the roster isn't gonna back down to the Shield. DUST!!!

Match #6: Jack Swagger vs Miz

Swagger is just a small player in his own rivalry that I forgot that he's the one getting the world title match. We the people find that you're still boring. I know Zeb is there to do all the talking for Swagger, but I'm not sure if Swagger will be able to stand on his own when the time comes. Lord knows he's had issues in this department. Swagger wins this match for 'Merica.

Match #7: CM Punk vs John Cena

If you're gonna post a Tout, you can at least follow basic hygiene. I'm just saying. From top to bottom, this match was spectacular. No matter how many Punk/Cena matches we've seen for the past two years, there's just something about them that are always intriguing enough to check out. Something about these two just seem to bring out their best when they're going up against each other. In an amazing finish, Cena wins with a hurricarrana/AA combo for the victory. The hurricarrana was a bit shaky, but I can forgive it since Cena isn't exactly what you call a lightweight. With the victory, 'Twice in a Lifetime' has indeed come true. It really shouldn't come as a shock to the majority of you. I know there are a lot of people who don't want Rock/Cena 2, but it's a money-making/publicity move and that's that. WIth Punk losing, it seems a certain internet rumor could be coming true. Since I can't stand dirt sheet reporting, I'm not gonna talk about that until I see something on my television screen showing it could happen. I could care less about some online report since a lot of these 'rumors/spoilers' turn out to be false. Until that time comes, we shall wait and see what WWE has planned for Punk.

Overall Impression:

This was a pretty good episode of Raw. The matches were good and some of the segments were executed well. This was probably one of the better episodes I've seen as of late. There are still a couple of question marks for some big players heading into WM, but we also have over a month to determine what will happen for the big event, so we shall wait and see. Another thing I should mention is WWE announcing Old School for next week. Not really sure what will come out of this, but this gimmick could be the perfect setting for a certain return. WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Impact Wrestling 2/21/13 Review (Buddy Ray)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Impact Wrestling 2/21/13. After a week off from TNA, how does the show fair? Let's get this over with and begin. 

We open up the show with Hulk Hogan. I didn't review last week's show, but I do know that Hulk put together a series of matches to determine who will be the #1 Contender to the world title. Yeah, remember that championship? Well, Hogan decides to screw last week's show in the ass by ignoring that concept completely and giving the title match to a guy who wasn't even part of those qualifying matches, Bully Ray. So, it makes last week's show a complete waste of time. Maybe a week off was a good thing? Sigh….I'm not even surprised anymore, but you think they would at least try to follow the kayfabe they just established LAST WEEK. If anything, this looks worse since there was only a few hours/days in between the actual tapings of these episodes. It makes the creative staff look even worse. Did anybody even plan out an entire month of episodes before filming? Anyway, Buddy Ray is still trying to play up his good guy routine, so he request for Hogan and Sting to take on the Aces & Eights. Buddy Ray's army: Now coming to a retirement home near you. 

Match #1: Greatest Factor and Bad Influence vs Team Nacho Libre, James Storm and Joseph Park

You know you have a clusterf*** when you start creating 8-man tag matches. The match was okay for what it was worth, but geeze was it difficult to keep track of. The finish comes when Storm hits the Last Call, but TNA wants Joseph to mean something, so they encourage him to hit the OBJECTION! (That's what I'm calling it). The good guys end up picking up the victory. Wait, did Hernandez even do anything? This is what happens in 8-man tag matches. You just don't get a chance to shine, playa.

Match #2: Rockstar Spud vs Robbie E

Thanks to Robbie T not helping E cheat, Rockstar picks up the rollup victory. I've had a few weeks to think about it and I still stand by my original thoughts. Rockstar Spud is the worst name I've ever heard in my life. He's gonna go places; like the free clinic. After the match, E and T get in each other's face. T is about to beat up E, but E ends up running away. Wow, did that make any sense? What it all boiled down to was Rob Terry getting tired of Robbie E's garbage. The breakup has been teased since last year, so this should come as no surprise. Not really sure what this means for both guys, but who really cares? It's an annoying Jersey dude and a jacked-up dancing fool. Do you really want to see either of these guys go farther? If anything, they have both found their place in the comedy department. While not perfect, they do offer up a good laugh from time to time.

Match #3: Tara vs Tessmacher vs Velvet Sky vs Gail Kim; Elimination Match for KO Title

I think moving forward, I'm just gonna skip analyzing women's wrestling matches until an actual storyline is written…..Or when I start giving a s***. Tara ends up getting eliminated first. I would comment on this, but that would mean breaking my rule. Velvet wins the match and is the new champion. Yep, still not caring.

Match #4: Samoa Joe vs Garett Bischoff

In an uninteresting match, Wes Brisco arrives to interfere. After the match, Kurt Angle arrives for the save. Every time they call Kurt the Cyborg, I think of Cyborg from Teen Titans, except with more broken necks. Kurt issues a challenge to Wes. This is still pending, but it seems Kurt vs Wes in a cage match for Lockdown is set to take place. A veteran of the TNA roster vs a rookie in the worst stable of all time? I can just smell the ratings…..

Match #5: RVD vs Kenny King; X Division Title

So, let me ask a legit question. How many times has Kenny gotten an X Division title match this year? Part of the reason this division is a joke is because they hand out title matches like it's freakin' candy. This match has been done so many times that I've lost all interest in watching this match. It doesn't make RVD look better since it's literally beating the same guy, and Kenny isn't getting anything out of this since he's always losing against RVD. This is doing nothing for the X Division, in whole. The definition of lazy writing. RVD wins yet again. Surprised? You shouldn't be.

Match #6: Bully Ray, Sting, and Hulk Hogan vs Aces & Eights

You know there's something wrong with the combine age for three guys is over 150 years. I'm gonna beat you down with my cane! Hogan didn't even make this match because it would be later revealed that Card Games attacked him. Either that or Hogan slept past the alarm clock. Despite not having the numbers, Card Games still struggles to deal with Bully and Sting. I understand what Tazz is trying to do here, but talking about how they have the edge is pretty depressing. The finish comes when Aces & Eights bring out Brooke Hogan and Hulk crawls towards the ramp in an injured state. This whole scene is ridiculous. The stable brings out Brooke, but why? Why did they capture her only to let her go minutes later? To separate Bully from Sting? I guess that could be the argument, but that's quite a stretch. Bully runs to attend to his 'wife', while leaving Sting at the mercy of this stable. Congratulations Aces & Eights, you picked up a victory. It was a 3-on-1 match, but you did it! You beat mediocrity! You think with their history that Kurt and Joe would've saved Sting, but what the hell would I know? Just slap 'wrestling logic' all over it and there's you explanation.

Overall Impression:

I know I didn't watch last week's show, but this is what I come back to? It was almost as if I didn't miss anything. That's probably a good thing or else I would've been really confused with this show, but it still doesn't take away from the fact this show was just kinda there. It wasn't good or bad. It just falls in the territory of average, meaning you aren't missing a whole lot by skipping this one. The segments were 'meh' and the matches were okay, at best. I'm a little disappointed with tonight's show since this was their last taping in the UK…..A taping that was done almost a month ago. I understand having to film in advance, but taping a month in advance is going overboard. Well, I need to wrap this up. Nothing really happens in this episode, which is why it isn't the most intriguing show to watch. Stuff does happen, but not enough to make it a watcher. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw 2/18/13 Review (They unveil a giant HOF ring)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 2/18/13. Will we get any new rivalries as we head towards WM? Let's find out and begin. 

We open up the show with John Cena. As the man talks about how big of a bonus he will get  with Twice in a Lifetime, CM Punk interrupts and basically suckers Cena to put his WM ticket on the line. Next week will feature Punk vs Cena, where the winner will face the Rock for the WWE title at WrestleMania. The promos was pretty good, so I can at least give them that. Since we still don't have any idea as to what Punk will be doing at WM, this match might give us a few clues on his plans. 

Match #1: Mark Henry vs Sin Cara

I thought we would get a match that lasted about 60 seconds, but I was surprised. It lasted around 61 seconds. HAA!!! After Henry squishes Sin, Khali shows up after the match to confront Henry. Instead of beating up the dancing fool, he walks away and just mocks Khali. So, Henry goes from destroying everybody in the EC to mocking a Punjabi? Being a former world champion has its perks.

Match #2: Antonio Cesaro vs Miz; No DQ

Miz wins with the Figure Four. It appears that Miz can only beat Antonio when the US title isn't on the line. I stand by thoughts on this rivalry in the EC review. I still feel it's missing something, but I think tonight's interaction was starting to add some spice to the storyline. It's at least a start.

Match #3: Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler

In a fair match, Del Rio wins with the Cross Armbreaker. Apparently, Big E thinks it's over for you. I'm just reminding you in case you didn't catch that. Dolph was about to cash in the MITB, but Ricardo Rodriguez stole the briefcase long enough to make sure Dolph didn't get to cash it in. Damn, he ran faster than Sonic the Hedgehog on crack. Del Rio knocks out Dolph with the Enzuigiri. I think Dolph's new gimmick is to have the most attempts at cashing in the MITB. Even though people will bark about this scene since Dolph Ziggler is the latest IWC craze, Ricardo's antics were hilarious enough to not care about WWE trolling you.

Okay, so I'm a bit confused with this next scene. Wade Barrett comes out to promote a movie he's in, but I don't even recall seeing him in the damn trailer. I'm guessing he has one of those film appearances that does nothing, but that isn't the confusing part. Sheamus shows up on the titantron and talks about how great Colin Farrell is and says we are out of time….

Yeah, I think that's the best way to explain it. It's like the WWE didn't know how to shamelessly plug a movie. I guess you can say that this could lead to something between Wade and Sheamus, but why? Why completely pull the plug on Wade and Bo Dallas? After all, they were doing such a great job in building the young career of---Okay, I can't even say it. If the plan is to move away from Bo Dallas, that's probably a good thing. If Wade/Sheamus is the plan, it really isn't that bad of an idea. 

Match #4: Failed Fatties vs Puerto Rican Express; Mixed Tag match

Uh oh. I didn't watch this match. So, let's pretend we talked about it and move on. Shhh….Nobody ruin the effect.

Match #5: Jack Swagger vs Daniel Bryan

Jack Swagger and Zeb Coulter talk about state of America….

Sure enough, Zeb targets the immigrants. It was only a matter of time until the Swagger/Del Rio build started. This match was short, but it wasn't bad based on how long the match was. Swagger wins with the Patriot Lock. Yeah, they changed the name again. What are they gonna call the Gutwrench Powerbomb? The Affirmative Action? Actually, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. I still don't really see how people refer to this as a new Swagger. He's still the same guy. Same boring charisma, same wrestling style, same bland promo, and same presences. The only thing Swagger changed was his hair. While Zeb helps him get an identity, Swagger himself has made about as many changes as a politician. Huh….Maybe that's the connection with this whole 'Real American' deal?

In other news, it turns out that Vince McMahon has challenged Pauly to a match. This was Vince's request for granting Pauly the stipulation. Instead of firing him or Brock Lesnar, he challenges him to a fight? I think Vince ended up falling on his head in the middle of that F5. I know it's wrestling logic, but it's still funny to point out. 

Match #6: Shield vs Chris Jericho, Ryback, and Sheamus

In a good match, the Shield end up getting the victory when they hit Jericho in the face. The Shield end up proving yet again that they mean business and they aren't going away. Since the Shield keeps dominating and winning matches, it makes them intriguing. I guess the WWE roster will attempt Plan C since Cena and Jericho haven't been able to get the job done.

Damien Sandow talks about himself and starts to attack Kofi Kingston. Their match never got started. R-Truth makes his return and beats the crap out of Damien. What is it with WWE and all these returns? I'm all for surprise returns, but there has been a lot of them in the last few weeks. I'm indifferent to Truth's return. It kinda falls flat since all three guys aren't doing much at the moment. Let's wait and see what the plan is with all of this. 

Match #7: Kane vs Randy Orton

Thanks to Bryan showing up during the match, Randy is able to connect with the RKO for the victory. Kane help up his end of the bargain, but Bryan did not. I guess that once WM is over, Team Hell No will be no more. It's possible for this to change, but I highly doubt it at this point. This bromance appears that it won't end well.

It's time for the Rock's WWE title celebration…even though he won the title almost a month ago. So, he's celebrating it again? I guess the creative staff loved it so much that they wanted to do it again. The only thing that really happens here is Rock unveiling the new WWE title design. I know the belt is still new, but I'm not really big on the design. While anything is better than the spinner belt, this new belt looks like a shield….

Actually, I take that back. A shield can still look cool. It just looks like no thought or imagination was put into the new design. It just looks lifeless. I'll get used it, but so much more could've been done. Still, it isn't the worst world title design since that honor goes to Jeff Hardy's Megatron title. Just as the Rock is about to explain who he would rather fight at WM, Cena shows up to make his walk but is interrupted when Punk takes out Cena with the toy belt. Oh no, the spinner belt just took out its creator! Ohhhhh nooooooo….Punk makes it pretty clear that he wants the new championship. Anti-climatic ending, don't you think? 

Overall Impression:

Tonight's episode felt kinda off. I'm not saying it was bad, but it wasn't great either. There was some good matches to watch throughout the night and some promos were pretty decent, but nothing really leaped out at you. There really weren't those scenes that really defined the show. It was a pretty average showing. One positive I will say about tonight's show is that it continues to give foreshadowing to other possible matches for WM. I may not be big on the current card, but at least they're trying to build it up. I think you aren't missing much if you skipped this episode. so take whatever you will from this article. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 Review

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Elimination Chamber 2013. Did this PPV do anything to help WrestleMania 29? Let's find out and start the review. 

Match #1: Alberto Del Rio vs Big Show; WHC

We open up the show with the WHC match. Why do I get the feeling I'm gonna be opening up the WM 29 review with that same sentence? What you get here is pretty much the same match you got at the Royal Rumble….Minus the duct tape. Screw Undertaker's WM streak, nobody can defeat the power that is the duct tape. The finish comes when Del Rio goes for the Enzuigiri….

Wow, he wasn't even close with that kick. Pro wrestling can really make you laugh. I'm being entertained for all the wrong reasons. I think Del Rio is going for take two annnnnnnd…..There he goes!!! Took you long enough. Once he connects with the second kick, he proves his awesomeness by hitting it a second time. Hey, 2 out of 3 isn't bad, right? Del Rio finally gets Show to tap out to the Cross Armbreaker for the clean victory. In case you're wondering, there is no Money in the Bank cash-in. I guess Dolph Ziggler will wait a while longer. Either that or Dolph isn't allowed to cash it in under AJ has slept with the briefcase. I was a little surprised that Del Rio won, but I understand why they did this move. You have to watch the rest of the PPV to really understand the purpose of this decision. We'll talk about this a little more after the EC match.

Match #2: Antonio Cesaro vs Miz; US Championship

I'm surprised that Miz was able to make this PPV. After all, he just went through the best amusement park ride last Monday night. The finish to this match occurs when Miz accidentally falls on Cesaro's pants party to end this match in a DQ. After the match, Miz vents his frustrations by kicking him in the balls. You don't need five languages to express THAT. With the finish, it continues the rivalry. This isn't the worst rivalry WWE has going on right now, but it really isn't one of their best. If you enjoy the rivalry, that's perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn't spark my interest for some reason. It just feels like the rivalry is missing something. I'm not exactly sure what it's missing, but I feel they are close to this rivalry meaning something. Does anybody else feel the same way?

Match #3: Elimination Chamber match

What is that music Jack Swagger is coming out to? This is Jack Tshwagger reporting for CNN. Our top story, my faceless expressions. Zeb Coulter starts talking how they took his job or whatever. I wonder how this guy would react to a plate of french fries? Does he gorge on them to increase his belly fat or try to find a way to 'Americanize' it? In that case, he would probably pour a bucket of Crisco on it. What the hell am I talking about? Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan start off the match, but Swagger, Kane, Randy Orton and Mark Henry each get in the match. Team Hell No continue to have communication problems. I don't want to think the break up of this team is gonna happen, but it sure seems that way. Come on man, I thought what Team Hell No had was special? No goat-face for you tonight. This s*** got out of hand when Henry got into the equation. He takes Team Hell No with the WSS and sends Orton through a pod. Finally, all three guys work together to take out Henry. So, Henry's return seems kinda pointless. I didn't feel like he was gonna win, but it makes you wonder what you do with him now with WM season approaching. I think they are setting something up for him, but I really have no idea what that would be. After Henry's reign of terror, Randy takes out Jericho with the RKO, but immediately gets rolled up by Swagger. That's right folks, Jack Swagger wins the EC match and will face Del Rio at WM 29. While I understand why WWE went in this direction, say it out loud to yourself. Del Rio vs Swagger for the WHC at WM? It just doesn't sound like something you would expect at the big event. It's not the sexiest matchup that can occur for the big event. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Zeb and Del Rio can come up with some great promos to make this storyline pop out, but I still stand by my first thoughts on the possible match. I guess we need to prep for more anti-immigration talk for the next few months. I was also a little surprised that Dolph didn't attack Jericho during this match. It just makes that storyline feel empty and forgotten. The wrestling match was good, but I think the storyline development from this match falls flat.

Match #4: The Shield vs John Cena's Breakfast Club

There was a lot of things going on with this match. It could be tough to keep track of everything that happened. Despite all of that, I thought it was a pretty good match. Shield ends up getting the victory after Roman Reigns hits Ryback with a Spear. Yeah, Ryback loses yet again at a PPV. This is what happens when you don't have that 'John Cena immunity'. Regardless, I thought it was very important for the Shield to get this victory. They are still the upstart group of renegades, so I think they needed this victory a lot more than Cena's crew. Still, it's a little shocking to see a group of people that didn't get completely destroyed by Mr. Breakfast Cereal. I think this shows that WWE wants Shield to really mean something. Hard to say how far Shield will go, but their rising stock keeps them interesting. One thing that seemed off about the ending was Cena clearly could've made the save for Ryback, but ends up falling on the ground. I can't really see it from the camera angle if one of the Shield members prevented Cena from making the save, but it's certainly possible. I'm guessing Cena's super powers gave out for a split second.  Maybe Cena is really a robot. No wonder he can't express pain. Ryback looked pissed after the match, so I think that was the idea. Still, it doesn't take away from the odd finish.

Match #5 and #6 were filler matches that got thrown together at the last moment. Sigh….Do I really have to talk about these? They have nothing to do with anything. Shadow the Hedgehog, that's your cue…

If case you want to know, Dolph Ziggler beat Kofi Kingston with the Zig Zag and Kaitlyn defeated Tamina. It's almost sad to watch the commentators try to make Kaitlyn/Tamina mean something. After all, everybody can tell you this storyline in extreme detail, right? It appears Brodus does know how to wrestle, but too bad it's in action figure form. Those things look like they would break after one recess. Mommy!!! Cena's head is missing!!!

Match #7: Rock vs CM Punk; WWE Title

You know what I just realized? The Rock was pretty much Cena in this match. I know a lot of people will give me crap for that statement, but I noticed a lot of similarities. The crowd chants, the pace of the match, the commentary. It just felt very familiar to how a Cena match goes. Punk hits the GTS, but the referee is not able to make the count thanks to Paul Heyman's shenanigans. Since Punk doesn't seem to have a match set for WM, this could be his meal ticket to getting into the WWE title match at WM. I still think this isn't the likely scenario since 'Twice in a Lifetime' is the money-grabber, but it's an option. Punk can also get into a program with Brock Lesnar since he and Heyman were not on the same page tonight, but I highly doubt it. Heyman tries to help Punk yet again, but it fails when Rock is able to escape. Rocky hits the Rock Bottom and it manages to keep Punk down for the count. So, what was the point of the added stipulation? The DQ/countout deal didn't seem to be a factor in this match. There were a couple of moments where they commentators brought mention to it, but it just seemed like an excuse to make the match 'different'. I think this match was a little better than their Royal Rumble match. While this match contained some overbooking like the previous encounter, the ending just had a better flow to it. Other than that, this isn't a ton to talk about. Yeah, this is one of those PPVs that feels like filler. While we did get a clearer picture for WM, they could've done so much more tonight. That's why I feel disappointed with this event.

Overall Impression:

What more can I say about this PPV? At the end of the day, I really wasn't impressed with this PPV. While the wrestling quality for this evening was good, the storyline development seemed lacking. And I'm not talking about the preexisting storylines like Kane/Bryan or Antonio/Miz. I'm referring to new storylines as we get close towards WM. Outside of Swagger/Del Rio and maybe Punk/Heyman/Rock, you don't get a whole lot in this department. I also felt this PPV wasn't worth the asking price. This doesn't feel like a PPV showing. This really felt more like glorified episode of Raw or Smackdown. And don't take this the wrong way. I'm not saying this PPV was terrible. It really wasn't a bad PPV, but this is a PPV that falls in filler/average territory and it's because of that factor that I find this PPV to be disappointing. I wasn't totally blown away by this event and I felt this was not worth the $50 price tag. If I have to give this PPV a score between 1-10 and 5 considered average on here, I will give WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 a 5 out of 10. The show mostly falls in the 'below/above' average territory. I know a lot of people aren't gonna agree with the score, but that's honestly where it ranks with me. It wasn't a terrible show, but just a very generic show minus a spot or two. If you enjoyed the PPV, that's perfectly fine. There's nothing at all wrong with that, but I'm just sharing my honest opinions and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it because somebody will give me negativity. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw 2/11/13 Review (Believe in the Shouting!!!)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 2/11/13. With Elimination Chamber set for this week, how does this episode fair? Let's find out and begin. 

We open up the show with Paul Heyman. The man explains how he has to resign because he feels he will become a burden for CM Punk. Punk comes out and persuades Pauly to stay and…..He stays. Yeah, that was seriously it? So, this is what I make out of the opening….

CM Punk: Pauly, you should stay

Heyman: I can't

CM Punk: Pauly, you should STAY!

Heyman: Well….Okay…..

What? Most people would think of this opening as a waste of time, but I think I figured out what WWE was trying to do. If you look at Punk's devious look while hugging Paul, I can sense Punk betraying Heyman in order to better himself, but that probably won't happen until later down the road. Punk is setting up the ultimate con-artist for disaster? Wow, Punk really is a sadistic asshole if that's the case. Other than that, there really was no point to this opening. Only thing to do now is wait and see what comes out of this in the future….

Match #1: Mark Henry vs Khali

I love how King and Cole claimed the previous scene was the most ridiculous thing they've ever seen. Aren't we watching a Punjabi, a Canadian, and a midget attempting to dance? Yeah, think about that. Henry takes out Khali with the World's Strongest Slam. After the match, Henry eats a leprechaun. Sadly, he'll be dancing again later in the week.

Paul talks to Vince McMahon over the phone to add a stipulation that awards Punk the title if Rocky gets DQ'd or counted out. Vince gives Pauly the 'okay' when he agrees to do whatever he wants. I think a certain 'club' is about to make a comeback. Well, at least the phone call was worth a laugh. 

Match #2: Chris Jericho vs Daniel Bryan

Earlier in the night, Jericho asked Booker if he can compete in the EC match, but not before telling Teddy Long that his idea sucks. What, you don't dig tag matches, playa? See, even WWE is self-aware of Teddy's cliches. Booker tells him if he can beat Bryan, he will put him in the EC match. It appears that Rey Mysterio is out of the match. Why? Ummm….Sin Cara Syndrome? Apparently, it was because of the Henry attack from last week. Didn't he just return? So, he returns only to make another return in a few weeks? …..Makes sense to me. Jericho scared the crap out of me when he did Booker's catchphrase. I thought he was gonna eat the camera for a moment. Anyway, this was a fantastic match. It was hands down the best match of the night. Jericho wins the match with the Codebreaker. Jericho ends up qualifying for the EC match.

Match #3: John Cena's Breakfast Club vs 3MJobbers

I'm actually surprised by this match. Want to know why? Because it lasted longer than 30 seconds. Do I really have to explain who won? After the match, the guys cut a quick promo on how they plan to attack the Shield tonight. Yes, because telling everybody you plan is always the best way to go. Then again, Cena hasn't been subtly about these things since he became the face of this company, but I digress.

Winner via superhero power: John Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback

As Big Show is making his way towards the ring, he punches Alex Riley and Yoshi Tatsu since he has developed a vendetta against WWE Superstars. Show follows up by knocking out Matt Striker in the ring. He is a man of few words, if you ask me. It seems an aristocrat has his tongue. I know, I know….BOOOOOO!!!

Match #4: Jack Swagger vs Zack Ryder

Swagger dominated this match. After the match, some fat guy walks into the ring and claims him and Swagger are true Americans and think this country has gone downhill. So, the question going through my head is who the f*** is this dude? Well, he apparently goes by the name 'Zeb Coulter'. Sigh….I see what they did there. Look at the way he dresses? The man talks about being a real American, but looks like he drinks is own piss for breakfast. Before I get people to correct me, I get what they are trying to do here. Zeb is supposed to be the southern stereotype where they are overly patriotic….I mean, VERY patriotic. WWE and stereotypes have been working together since day 1, so it as almost apparent for this character to come about…..Again. I'll admit that the promo Zeb cut was pretty decent. I've talked about how Swagger needs a voice because the man cannot cut a promo to save his life. Zeb is there to give him a voice. Hard to say what will come from this, but I suppose it could be worse. Starting next week, Swagger's entrance music is 'America F*** Yeah!'……'murcia.

Match #5: Miz vs Cody Rhodes

Thanks to Antonio Cesaro, this match ends in a DQ when he attacks the Miz. This scene ends with Antonio beating the crap out of Miz. I just hope this match is way better than the match they put on at RR. I'm not saying it was bad. I'm just saying that it was a very forgettable.

Match #6: Failed Fatties vs Puerto Rican Express

Brodus and Tensai kill Primo and Epico in a matter of seconds. After the match, the two start to dance. I know people hate this idea, but I'm fine with this move because it at least gives them something to do. Better to be doing something rather than nothing. Besides, Tensai is dancing…..He should feel right at home. Oh, and I should mention how Dolph Ziggler demanded to be in the EC match because of Jericho clinching a spot earlier. Since five slots are filled (Swagger being #5), Booker makes it simple. Whoever wins between Dolph and Kane gets the final slot. Still banking on that Dolph/Jericho match for WM, but we shall wait and see.

The Shield comes out to cut a promo. They call out Sheamus, Ryback, and Cena on their antics. I love how Seth Rollins claims that Cena has failed in his existence. I don't know why, but I like the way he delivers this line. It sounds so over the top that I just laugh. YOU EXIST….IT'S NO USE!!! Speaking of over the top, listen to Roman Reigns here. Why does he shout at random moments? It's like the man is TALKING TO YOU in such a way that just RAPES YOUR EARS for not reason AT ALL. Watch him say 'decade'. It sounds like he's trying to pass a kidney stone. Was this promo cut in the ring or on a toilet? Anyway, the promo end--BELIEVE IN THE SHIELD!!! Ehem…..Cena and crew turn out the lights and attack the Shield. The scene ends with the good guys standing tall. I know the promo is meant to be taken seriously, but that was so over the top that I can't help myself. That's just too funny. Regardless of how funny the delivery was, I thought it was a pretty good promo. The segment is definitely worth checking out. 

Match #7: Alberto Del Rio vs Damien Sandow

In a matter of seconds, Del Rio defeats Sandow. I will become your intellectual jobber. Where every ignoramus will be able to whip my ass…..You're welcome. I really hope that isn't the case. There's too much potential for him to just be a punching bag. Del Rio seems prepped for his match with Show. After all, how can you be calm and collective when you see a giant knock out a bunch of future endeavors? The nerve!!!

Match #8: Wade Barrett vs Kofi Kingston

Before the match, Wade got into a backstage scuffle with Bo Dallas. Yeah, remember him? Anyway, he ends up hurting Wade before his match. Wade sells his injuries, but that still isn't enough for the kitty cat to take down the Brit. Wade wins with the Bullhammer. I know WWE's trying to make this Wade/Dallas thing mean something, but I just don't care. Wade has fallen since winning the IC title and Bo is just a bland wrestler. That's the recipe to not give two s***s about this rivalry.

Match #9: Dolph Ziggler vs Kane

This match wasn't too bad. The finish comes when AJ causes a distraction, but ends up screwing over Dolph in the process. It was clear that Kane wasn't interested in AJ. I guess he had enough of that last year. He's probably still washing away the shame. Anyway, Kane hits the Chokeslam for the victory. Kane ends up getting the final slot for the EC match. I love how Kane got three opportunities to impress Booker. I guess when you fail, try and try again. Not sure if I will be doing any predictions, so I might as well give a quick theory. Since I've been thinking about this Dolph/Jericho idea since last year, I think Dolph cashes in the MITB on Del Rio this Sunday and Jericho wins the EC match. I could be totally wrong with this option, but that's my theory for the time being. This is subject to change by the WrestlingNerd. The WrestlingNerd has been known to talk out of his ass and say otherwise….Wait, what?

Oh, did you know the Rock was gonna be on tonight? I never would've guessed with all that plugging. I guess WWE really wanted to get those casual viewers to jack up the ratings by reminding you every five minutes. The Rock comes out to talk about crackheads and stealing a car. What does this have to do with anything? Nothing, but I can at least admit that it was entertaining. Since the cheap pop is over, Punk comes out to confront the Rock about the WWE Championship. The two start to brawl. Rocky has the upper-hand, but Punk takes advantage because of Pauly's distraction. Punk hits the GTS and the show ends with Punk taking the WWE Championship. The build to this rematch has been very lackluster, but I think WWE did that on purpose. I still think Rock/Cena 2 is the likely scenario, but I guess they can always surprise you with a triple threat match. They did write a cop-out with the WWE title stipulation, so I guess we could see Punk take the title back this Sunday. I personally don't think this will happen, but let's wait and see. 

Overall Impression:

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. The matches were pretty good. That's a surprise since this is the 'go home' episode. I thought the build for EC and WM was done pretty well this evening. The segments for tonight's show were pretty entertaining. I really liked what WWE dished out tonight. This is an episode that I can recommend checking out. I think this is one of the better ones as of late. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. TNA and Smackdown reviews for this week may or may not happen since Valentine's Day is on Thursday and I'm gonna be out of town for the upcoming weekend. Sorry guys and girls, but I've always said my personal life comes before this page. I apologize in advance if I don't get to these shows, but I will definitely be tackling Elimination Chamber. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Smackdown 2/8/13 Review

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Smackdown 2/8/13. How is the blue brand this week? Let's find out and begin.

We open up the show with Big Show. The giant claims that if you're popular, you get whatever you want. Is Show cutting a promo or reading John Cena's playbook? Anyway, Show claims he will end Alberto Del Rio's title reign at the Elimination Chamber. He also talks about how Booker T is jealous of him. I'm still not giving up on that Show/Booker theory for WrestleMania. It's possible Booker could have somebody represent him, but don't be too shocked if Booker laces up his boots to go against the big guy. Book comes out and the two have a verbal exchange. Booker ends up making it Show vs Kane for later tonight, while Show continues to be upset by Book's decisions. If you have an ironclad contract, can't you just say, 'No, I'm not gonna do that'? Just saying. 

Match #1: Cody Rhodes vs Kofi Kingston

They seem to be rebuilding Cody's stock based on the pre-match promo and quick victory. I don't mind Cody getting back in the singles road, but I hope this doesn't mean Damien Sandow gets left out of the loop. Seriously, you gotta take advantage of his charisma. There's just too much there to just leave on the table. Cody wins with Cross Rhodes.

Team Hell No continue to have problems. Daniel Bryan tries to be sincere, but he really comes off as a douche. Kane sees right pass this and tells Bryan to stay out of his way and he'll deal with Show on his own. You could've solved this whole thing by just buying that fruit roll-up some flowers….Or a hooker. I'm sure he would accept that as an apology. 

 Match #2: Khali vs Titus O'Neil

This is something I've noticed for a while, but haven't really brought it up. It seems like the tag division is starting to take several steps backwards. A lot of the tag teams are either broken up or doing nothing. I think it's time to start adding some new tag teams to the table. Just something I wanted to bring up since the PTP have fallen in this boat. After Khali takes out Titus, Mark Henry arrives after the match to clean house. Henry talks about how Booker screwed him over by not putting him in the EC match. He demands a spot in the match. Booker arrives and says he doesn't like Henry bullying the roster in order to get his way. Booker makes it easy for Henry. If you win, you're in the EC match. Later tonight, it will be Henry vs Randy Orton. Meanwhile, Show threatens some guy to keep a sharp eye on his personal bus. Just as Show leaves, Del Rio arrives on the scene. I smell shenanigans!!!

Match #3: Big Show vs Kane

In a short match, Show wins with the KO punch. It appears Kane will not be competing in the EC match. Look for him to screw Bryan over at the PPV. After the match, Del Rio and unimportant guy #659 work together to ruin Show's bus. It appears they stole the tires to the vehicle. After that, Show gets a dose of Nickelodeon slim. Yeah, I know this was orange and not green. I figure I should say that before somebody wanted to ruin our fun. I love how the cameraman is still rolling despite the paint being all over the camera. That man deserves a promotion. It looks like Show just got done murdering an Oompa Loompa.

Match #4: Jack Swagger vs Justin Gabriel

I haven't seen Gabriel for so long that I forgot what he looked like. I was questioning who this new guy was until it clicked in my head. Have you ever had that happen to you? Swagger wins easily with the Patriot Act. Still not a big fan of what they called the finisher. Oh, and there was another Fandango video. It looks like Johnny Curtis will go from bland, ordinary guy to bland, ordinary dancer. Do we really need another dancing character on this show? Isn't Brodus Clay enough? Then again, I don't think watching a manatee raise his flipper really qualifies as dancing.

Match #5: Tensai vs Drew McIntyre

Just as Tensai is about to win, 3MB interfere in the match. After the match, Brodus arrives to help out Tensai. Failed Fatties work together to take out 3MB. The scene ends with the two dancing. It seems WWE is gonna start the birth of a new tag team. I kinda called this when they first had the interaction. Both guys aren't doing much, so I'm fine with the move. I expect people to complain about it, but I don't think it's the worst think they've come up with.

Match #6: Antonio Cesaro vs Sin Cara

Antonio proves how he dominates Americans by defeating…..A Mexican?……Yeeeeeeeaaaaaah. Antonio wins with the Neutralizer. Sin's super sentai powers aren't working anymore….

Since WWE remembered that Miz/Antonio have a program, the two end up having a brawl. At least somebody remembered their rivalry.

Match #7: Randy Orton vs Mark Henry

I'm Randy Orton and I'm gonna beat you up…..Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..That's seriously what's going through my head every time Randy cuts a promo. In a short match, Henry wins with the World's Strongest Slam. With the victory, Henry is now the fourth guy in the EC match. There's still two spots left open for the match. Swagger seems like a lock for one of those slots, but not really sure who gets the last slot. If Christian is ready to return, he's always an option. And Dolph Ziggler is always available. He once again wasn't on the show tonight. I'm guessing he forget to set his alarm clock or something.

Overall Impression:

For this being what it was, the show wasn't too bad. It featured some okay matches and progressed their storylines. Just like any episode of SD these days, this wasn't groundbreaking. You can skip this episode and you aren't missing much, but the show is at least a good distraction if you have nothing else better to do on a Friday night. I seriously don't expect anything with SD these days. In fact, I'm thinking about cutting down on the SD reviews. It just seems like it's a waste of time. Tell me what you think of that option. WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Impact Wrestling 2/7/13 Review

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Impact Wrestling 2/7/13. How does the show fair this week? Let's find out and start the review. 

We open up the show with cliche reasons for heel turns. You want to know what's bulls***? Aces and Eights throws a fit on Doc and Mike Knox for losing their mask, but don't seem to care that Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco just gave away their identities. I know it's wrestling logic, but it's still questionable. Nothing really to report here. It was just Wes talking about how he was sick of Kurt Angle's direction. There really isn't much to say about the opening. Wes' promo was pretty shaky. He must've been nervous since that was a pretty bad promo. He's still young, so let's hope he can do better than this. If not, it looks like Jack Stwagger is havetish some competsichion.

Match #1: RVD vs Kenny King vs Zema Ion; X Division Title

This match wasn't bad, but part of me feels there was no reason for it. I know RVD/Kenny had a brief program earlier in the year, but it just seems like the direction of the X Division is all over the place. I guess this could be considered storyline development, but who really knows since TNA seems to have a different agenda every week with the X Division. I just wish something was happening here since I don't find RVD has a good X Division champion. He's closer to a boring champion if you ask me.

What the hell is a Myspace? If you think I'm being serious with that question, you really haven't been on this page long enough. TNA gives you a recap of British Bootcamp. You can pretty much compare this to Tough Enough. The premise is pretty much the same. In a backstage scene, the Gut Check judges blame themselves for giving Wes a contract. I'm just gonna assume that TNA has completely forgotten about D'Lo Brown filling in for Al Snow when Wes got a contract. I was sure they were gonna use this to reveal Brown as another member of Aces and Eights, but who knows what they got planned. It's possible TNA's playing dumb with this whole thing, but I find it absurd. Even if they reveal D'Lo has a member, do you really think people will be excited for that move? I think you get my point. Oh, and it's nice to see TNA went out the way to hire a bunch of peeping toms as cameramen. I've talked about this before, but I just like to make fun of it. 

Match #2: James Storm vs Jesse Douche

I know the creative staff runs into a brick wall at some point, but Storm has been in limbo since ending his rivalry with Bobby Roode. I know people will bring up his mini-rivalry with Daniels, but I can't really count that since it felt like he was a substitute for AJ Styles. In fact, he isn't the only one in this position. If you look at WWE, Randy Orton is in the same boat. I know creative is thinking of something they could do, but you think they would come up with something a little sooner in two months later. Storm destroys Jesse in a matter of minutes.

Match #3: Nacho Libre vs Greatest Factor; TNA Tag titles

In what was a pretty damn good match, we have new tag champs. Roode and Aries were struggling to stay on the same page, but managed to work together to finally get the victory. I really like this move. I know the odd couple routine has been done in the wrestling business before, but I think Aries and Bobby have enough charisma to add something new to it. I also hope that it helps the tag division in TNA. They need to get that back on track.

Match #4: Tara vs Tessmacher

Sorry about that. I seemed to have gotten distracted. For some reason, Tessmacher ended up getting the clean victory. What in the world are they doing with this division? I thought Velvet Sky was gonna chal--Nope, I can't even try to make myself care about this division. I'm sorry, but it's just there. 

Winner via blah: Tessmacher

The winner of the Brit camp is Rockstar Spud. That's a horrible name. Can you honestly tell me you can say that name without laughing your ass off? If you can pull that off, you win the award for the day. We have a comedy scene between Spud and the two Robbies. Geeze, that sounds like a bad joke just waiting to happen. Robbie E demanded for the rookie to get him a pizza and claiming that he controls Robbie T, but that plan backfires when Robbie T doesn't seem to care about E getting decked in the face by the young Brit. The scene wasn't too bad, so let it pass. If Jeff Hardy's MRI appears to be negative, why doesn't he just show up next week? Ohhh, because he has 'prior' events. Don't do drugs, kids! 

Match #5: Sting and Bully Ray vs Aces and Eights; Tables match

It looks like Bully is 'bullying up'!!!

Oh……oh…..Ohhhhhhhhhhh. Seeing Bully Ray 'hulk up' is downright sad. Forget jumping the shark. TNA just jumped the Hulk. The match was blah and just there. It wasn't terrible, but just not very engaging. The finish comes when Bully sends Devon through the table for the victory. Yeah, these Aces and Eights are a menace to society, huh? Come on, a pack of kittens and puppies is more intimidating than this. The show ends with Sting and Hulk showing their love towards Bully. This scene will meaning nothing months from now when Bully decides to turn on his father-in-law. By that point, TNA will have the entire roster join Card Games while Eric Young is the general manager of TNA. You laugh now, but wait till it happens.

Overall Impression:

The show wasn't bad, but it just didn't seem to hold my interest. I don't know why, but I almost found it a chore to watch the whole show. I watch wrestling to have fun, but when I want to leave to go do something else, there's something wrong with that picture. And I'm not saying this to show that WWE is more superior. Oh, hell no!!! WWE definitely has their fair share of problems. What I'm saying is while I enjoy certain things in TNA (Roode/Aries), the other storylines (A&8) are keeping me from enjoying the show as a whole. I'm not really sure what it is I'm looking for TNA to do, but I think they need to make a few changes since things have seem to have regressed since Slammiversary/Destination X. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. I think this is the time where I get the negative comments for not liking the show. Yes, how dare I have an opinion. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw 2/4/13 Review (This review is brought to you by the WWE App....)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw 2/4/13. How was the show this week? Let's find out and start the review. 

We open up the show with CM Punk. He's still bitter about losing the championship, but seems a little more collective. Punk tries to ensure you that Vince McMahon created that video with the help of CGI. If WWE was really using CGI, you would see Cena hulk up by gaining 1000 more pounds of muscle, lift up the freakin' arena with one finger, and proceed to fly around the world. Punk claims the audience is a bunch of idiots and Vince deserved the F5. The managing manager--I mean, the general managing-managing mag-general assassin--gen--general grievous--supervising managing--…..THAT GUY!!! The managing manager of the show decides to let the fans vote, but only if you have the WWE App. Why do I think that WWE will have one of their PPVs sponsored by Twitter sometime down the road? This was a nice way to start off the show. It wasn't captivating, but it was decent for what it was worth. 

Match #1: Ryback vs Antonio Cesaro

For what it was worth, the match wasn't too bad. Antonio can say, 'Feed me more' in five different languages. The finish comes when Ryback hits Shell Shock for the clean victory. Feed me Swiss Cheese!!!

Winner via pinfall: Ryback

Apparently, John Cena plans to call out the Shield tonight. I guess Cena got one of his capes from the cleaners and is ready to go. Anybody else think WWE is going a tad overboard by pushing the WWE App? It shouldn't even call it Monday Night Raw. It should be called Product Placement: Starring the WWE App. DOWNLOAD TODAY!!! WWE's slogan for 2013: Download the WWE App or we will kill you!!!

Match #2: Jack Swagger vs Santino

I love how they're trying to convince you that this is a new Swagger. Same moves, same boring personality, and same suffering succotash. It's 'amazing' how Swagger is tapping into a different being. This might be the worst return ever. For the record, I will never question Swagger's ability. He's very talented in the ring, but that's all he has going for him. Swagger wins this match in a matter of seconds. It wouldn't be Raw if we didn't have one match that lasted for about 30 seconds. Swagger now calls the Ankle Lock by a new name. Ladies and gentlemen, behold the Patriot Act. I'm surprised they didn't call it #Swaggerfinisher. Then again, we'll just end up getting another drunken rant from Mr. Broken Freakin' Neck, so this was the substitute.

Match #3: Alberto Del Rio vs Cody Rhodes

Why does Rhodes' mustache deal remind me of that one moron from NXT season 2? I know I could look it up and find his name, but that would imply that I give a s***. This is the WrestlingNerd, where professionalism went out the window since day 1. In a short match, Del Rio wins with the Cross Armbreaker. After the match, Del Rio talks about how much he loves the audience and isn't too happy about what Big Show did to Ricardo. Show is on the titantron and claims Del Rio should sign a contract to grant Show another match for the WHC. Show claims if Del Rio tries to find him (hotel room), he will kick his ass. Show would've made it tonight, but found some great cuisine that is taking up the rest of his time. He's either a slow eater or that was his second/third helping.

Match #4: Daniel Bryan vs Rey Mysterio

It seems that the breakup of Team Hell No is coming. I'm not really enjoying how they're going about ending this angle. After all the odd couple bits, it just seems lazy and redundant to have them end the same way they teamed up. How can you end a great storyline in such a lazy/cliche way? I'm sorry, but that kinda bothers me. It was also announced that Mysterio has punched his ticket for the Elimination Chamber match. I don't have a problem with this move. Mysterio is always a good guy to use in a pinch. I've always appreciated his work. In a good match, Bryan wins with the No Lock. After the match, Mark Henry makes his return and takes out Bryan in a matter of seconds, but he mostly focuses his attack on Mysterio. Why Mysterio? Did he eat his dog or something? Hard to say where this is going, but we shall wait and see. Kinda hard for me to care about Henry's return after seeing Brock Lesnar's return last week. That's one way to make an 'impression'.

Match #5: Sheamus vs Kane

To make the breakup progress, Daniel interrupts this match to complain as to why Kane didn't help him out when Henry took him out. Because of the distraction, Sheamus is able to hit the Brogue Kick for the victory. Looks like there will be no loving with Team Hell No later tonight. 

Winner via jealously: Sheamus

It's time for Miz TV. Miz's guest turns out to be Paul Heyman. Miz asks about all the Shield/Brad Maddox stuff, while Paul tries to twist it around and talk about how CM Punk got screwed over by Vince. Vickie Guerrero comes out and claims she signed Brock Lesnar to a contract, so Paul had nothing to do with the Vince attack. Because Brock didn't feel like counting his money, he comes out to take out Miz. Based on how things are going, it isn't absolute that Brock/Triple H will happen at WM. It seems both Brock and Punk have some issues with the chairman, so either Brock/Trips or Punk/Trips is something I could see happening. The only issue is regardless of which match you pick, you run into a situation where either Punk or Brock are just sitting on the sidelines waiting for something else to come up. I think it will be that aspect that keeps me invested in the potential WM card. It will be interesting to see what both guys end up doing. 

Match #6: Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett

It turns out that Randy will also be competing in the EC match. That's a no-brainer. Nobody should be surprised by this. I love how King is impressed by Randy's victory over Wade. He beats Wade all the time. Hell, he beat him last week on Smackdown. Oh yeah, nobody watches Smackdown. Silly me! Randy wins cleanly with the RKO. It's official. The IC Title is cursed.

Match #7: CM Punk vs Chris Jericho

Jericho ended up winning the WWE App poll. Did you remember to download it? Punk and Jericho go out there and put together a pretty good match. The finish comes when Punk hits the GTS for the clean victory. I'm kinda surprised that Dolph Ziggler didn't get in the middle of this. Speaking of which, Dolph wasn't even on the show tonight. I don't think it's that big of a deal. If anything, he will probably compete on SD to get in the EC match. I think it was important to give Punk the clean victory over a big name. It helps build up his credibility as he challenges the Rock at EC. Still, it is a bit odd to not have Dolph on this week.

Oh yeah, Show and Del Rio never ended their segment. Why do I get the feeling the writers forgot about this while creating the script? The fight felt very phoned in. This might've been worse than their brawl on SD. I like their rivalry, but the last two brawls between these guys have not been planned out very well. Time for the final segment of the night. Brad Maddox comes out and claims that he's a hero for exposing Paul Heyman for what he is. Well, it isn't like it was hard. Pauly has been an evil character for years, but I digress. Maddox calls out the Shield since he wants to prove that he's more of a hero than Cena….

Shield arrives and pretty much kicks the crap out of Maddox. Cena's music hits, but it turns out he has reinforcements. I'm John Cena and I rise above lying. Ryback and Sheamus help out Cena to make it a fair fight. Shield is doing okay, but realize they are in way over their head. The show ends with Shield retreating through the live audience. I know people will say this makes Shield look weak, but I don't see it that way. What this does is build up the eventual six-man tag match between Cena's Fruity Pebbles and the Shield. After all, those guys have to do something for EC. 

Overall Impression:

I thought tonight's show was pretty decent. It was definitely more consistent than last week's show. At least this episode actually had some damn flow to it. I thought the show progressed their storylines decently and the action wasn't bad either. It wasn't amazing, but there's some fun stuff to watch. The show progressed things as we move closer to EC. In the process, we also get a glimmer of light shed on possible WrestleMania matches. There's still lots of time to come up with the card, so there's no need to hit the panic button. Who am I kidding? The smarks hit that button the second Rock touched the WWE Championship. One thing I didn't bring up is Bruno Sammartino being inducted in the Hall of Fame. This is another move that should've happened a long time ago, but it's better late than never. That's gonna do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it. WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Smackdown 2/1/13 Review

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Smackdown 2/1/13. Was the show worth checking out this week? Let's find out and start the review. 

We open up the show with Booker T. Since WWE wants to have a bunch of rematches for the biggest show of the year, Book announces an Elimination Chamber match to determine who will be the #1 Contender to the WHC. That way, we might get some variety for the WM card. Just as Booker is about to make some matches, Jack Swagger interrupts and wants to be in the EC match. Oh no, he has even less personality than before. I'm sorry, but it appears that Swagger hasn't learned anything from getting that time off. That doesn't bode well for Swagger. Booker decides to make some qualifying matches. Might want to pay attention to that detail. 

Match #1: Team Hell No vs Mysterious Mask

Looks like Sin Cara is heating up….

I guess not. The finish comes when Bryan has the No Lock applied, but Sin comes to the rescue. Mysterio uses this chance to follow things up with the 619/Splash combo. So, does that mean Mysterio and Sin earn a shot in the EC? I thought this was a qualifying match? Apparently, Booker meant he was looking for people to impress him enough to punch their ticket in the EC match. Way to make up the rules as the show is progressing, WWE. They should've made qualifying matches with all things considered.

Match #2: Khali vs Jinder Mahal

I know this is the part where I talk about the match, but do you honestly care who won this match? What I'm gonna do during this time is mention how Khali will be competing in the EC match. Before we get the whiny IWC members talking about how much they hate this move, let me bring up a fact. It's pretty common to have an 'injury' take place at EC, thus somebody ends up replacing Khali. Who that will be? I really don't know, but I'm almost expecting this to happen. An early guess would be Mark Henry or Christian.

Rhodes Scholars decide to disband and go back to their single careers, but not before having a moment. This would be the moment where I would play 'My heart will go on', but that's the sacrifice I pay for being a text reviewer. We also find out that Vince McMahon received a 'broken hip'. I guess the rule is you have to deal with a kayfabe injury when dealing with Brock Lesnar….Unless your name is John Cena. Damn 'face of the company' immunity!!!

Match #3: Sheamus vs Damien Sandow

Jesus Christ!!! Wasn't I just talking this past week about how WWE has gone overboard with Sheamus/Sandow matches? Luckily, this doesn't last long as Shield decides to make their presences felt. The segment ends when they take out Sheamus. The injustice was for not getting a tan. I can see Sheamus dealing with Shield from now until WM. It at least gives him something to do for the big event.

Match #4: Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett

I think Wade wins the Duuuuuuuummmmmmmb Asssssssssss Award. What the hell were you thinking in attempting the Bullhammer near a ring post? I'm sorry, but he deserved to lose after that. After the match, Wade takes his frustrations on Bo Dallas. The IC title: The cigarette butt of the WWE. Remember when this title meant something?

Match #5: Jack Swagger vs Kofi Kingston

Kofi's the wildcat? He's not even a three-day old kitten at this point. His stock has plummeted in such a short time. Well, I'll at least be fair and say this was a pretty good match. I found it to be entertaining because of the sea-saw battle. The finish comes when Kofi misses Trouble in Paradise. Swagger is able to take advantage with the Ankle Lock. Kofi's will get down on his knees after this match. I know, I know….BOOOOOOO!!!

Throughout the night, Alberto Del Rio was waiting for Big Show to arrive in the building. Once he finally does, Del Rio goes ape s*** with a lead pipe. I don't know about you, but I thought the choreography for this scene was terrible. Show looked like he didn't know where to go during this whole thing. Why is he standing on top of the car? What do you hope to accomplish by standing there? You can barely understand what Del Rio is saying. It sounded like a bunch of mumbling. They probably should've done a second take, but you only get one take when you're destroying a car. I got an enjoyment out of this scene, but for all the wrong reasons. 

Match #6: Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler

Del Rio tells Ricardo to stay backstage since he'll be safe. Are you sure about that? You have pissed off Brits and boring Americans back there. I'm sure he'd be safer in the ring, but I digress. In a fair match, Del Rio wins with the Cross Armbreaker. I think this is the cue where the Dolph fanboys argue how WWE is screwing up yet again. Last I checked, he still has the MITB. He'll be fine, so don't overreact. After the match, Del Rio immediately regrets his decision when Show comes back to the building and takes out Ricardo. Yeah, Ricardo was TOTALLY safe backstage. So far, I have really enjoyed Del Rio/Show. Something about it just seems to click. 

Overall Impression:

For the most part, I thought tonight's SD was decently entertaining. It wasn't anything special, but I found an enjoyment for what it was worth. Not really sure what the deal is with the EC match, but that's what next week is for. I bet I could find the answers online, but I'll wait until I see something on my television screen. Most of the matches were at least fair and the show did progress a few of the storylines. You aren't missing much by skipping this episode, but it's at nice distraction.
