WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Impact Wrestling Review 11/17/11 & Quick WWE Survivor Series thoughts

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Impact Wrestling on 11/17/11. We take a small break from the Top 20 Legend of Zelda Theme songs and talk about TNA. Would that be a good or bad thing? Well, let's get this over with and start the review.

We open up the show with Robert Roode. He talks about how he carried 4Tune and he is tired of those guys riding his coat tails. James Storm interrupts. What? He's already back? Well, either Storm is a quick healer or the kayfabe injury angle is already is finished. I'll get to that in a moment. Anyway, Storm wants to kick Roode's ass since he believes he was the attacker. Security stops Storm from going into the ring. Roode says he didn't attack Storm. James thinks that Roode probably didn't do the attack, but he still has beef with him. Security sends Storm to the back. As they are taking him away, AJ Styles is in the ring and attacks Roode. Security shows up again, but this time restrain AJ and Roode. We end up going to a commercial break. After witnessing Don West's failed audition for Paranormal Activity 4, AJ says Roode is a piece of trash. He just wanted to beat some sense into Roode, but realizes the only way to hurt Roode is to take away his world title. Roode goes on a rant in how he will never lose the championship and he's done with AJ. Sting comes out and says it will be Roode vs Styles in a 30 minute Iron Man Match. It will be for the world title at Final Resolution. Sting plugs how AJ is no slouch since AJ is a Grand Slam champion. A grand slam championship in TNA is about as impressive as eating a grand slam at Denny's. It seems the segment is over, BUT WAIT!!! Roode goes over to Dixie Carter (who is sitting in the audience) and starts yelling at her. It actually gets to a point where he wants to attack Dixie. AJ comes back and protects Dixie. This is where it gets strange. Roode is now beating the crap out of AJ as AJ is using himself as a shield for Dixie. Seriously, THIS ought to be censored. Just look at the visuals? What were they thinking? After the world's worse threesome, security finally breaks this whole thing up. I understand the purpose of Roode going after Dixie. It shows how he is out of control and how he has become thickheaded since getting the world title. While I get that, something about this scene was disturbing. I didn't like the fact Storm already returned from real/kayfabe injury. The injury angle is something you should invest a few weeks/months into building. This entire thing is super rushed. Many people complain how WWE rushed the "CM Punk leaving WWE" storyline, but look at this? In a span of four weeks, we have had three world title changes, an injury angle, a heel turn, and two different people making claim to be the #1 Contender. TNA is rushing this so much that I feel Roode will end up turning face by the end of the year. Since it appears Storm is healthy (if you watched the rest of the show, you get that vibe), they could've a few weeks to bring him back. By bringing him back as soon as they did, it takes me a little bit out of this storyline. I still think this is TNA's best storyline, but they really need to slow down and take their time with the storyline or else it will take more and more people out of it. I am still somewhat entertained by this, but we are seeing signs of TNA struggling to hold onto that ball. There was a backstage scene in which Storm confronted Samoa Joe. Joe says he didn't attack Storm. This starts a pretty pointless brawl between the two. What is this, Super TNA Bros. Brawl? Storm searching for his attacker would be a theme for the night. I wouldn't be surprised if Storm gets his revenge on his attacker next week. There was also a backstage scene in which Sting confronted Roode. He was very angry at Roode for assaulting Dixie. Roode gets angry and says he will sue Sting if he doesn't stop. I guess David Otunga is moonlighting as a lawyer in TNA?

Match #1: Robbie E vs Devon in a TV Championship Match
The Pope was in Devon's corner for this match. Is TNA reading my reviews? I talk about how the Pope/Devon rivalry just stopped, and this week it makes a comeback? This was a throwaway match. In fact, it kinda makes no sense how Devon got a TV title match. Then again, why even bother trying to figure it out. Rob Terry takes out the Pope. Eric Young showed up and took out Terry with a steel chair. Time for wrestling logic to make another appearance. Devon's kids are watching this match and jump the guardrail to check up the condition of the Pope. By the way, security doesn't show up. Then again, those guys have made too many appearances in the first 20 minutes of this program, so they deserve a break. Still, it's wrestling logic since there is nobody to stop Devon's kids from jumping the fence. The finish comes when Devon sees his kids out of their seats. This allows Robbie to score a roll up victory and he retains his title. There really was no point in making this a title match. After the match, Devon yells at his kids and grabs them by their arms like a mad man. The kids actually grow a pair and push their father away, as they go back to check up on the Pope. What doesn't add up about this whole thing is how we are supposed to feel sympathy for Devon, but that's impossible when he comes off as an asshole while the Pope just comes off as a smooth player. I really wish they would make up their minds with this storyline. Either pick a direction with it or just get rid of it. I personally think they should get rid of it since it's wasting time for, oh I don't know, something interesting.

Backstage with Garett Bischoff and Sting. Garett brags about how he isn't as green as everyone thought. That honestly has to be the dumbest thing Garett has ever said. He isn't green? He's more green than grass, Piccolo, Luigi, and the New York Jets put together. After more "groundbreaking" dialogue, Garett wants another match against Gunner. Sting says he will think about it. Once Garett leaves, Matt Morgan and Crimson show up and talk about their match at Turning Point. Even though they are talking about beating the crap out of each other, they are laughing about it. Sting basically says the tag team division sucks and Mexican America want the night off. He decides to give a tag title shot to Morgan and Crimson later tonight. Well, now I should say this...

It's still funny. I told you in the Turning Point review that Morgan and Crimson would form a tag team. It's kinda scary how I figure this stuff out at times. Another backstage scene between Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, and Sting. It turns out Eric was lying and won't re-work his contract. Oh, so the stipulation they brought up last week is now pointless. Grade A writing, TNA. He says he will make good on Garett's request and he will give him a match tonight. Sting talks about how Garett will go through Immortal to get to his father. I want you to think about how amazingly stupid this is. Sting, AJ Styles, Robert Roode, James Storm, Mr. Anderson, and Matt Morgan couldn't finish off Immortal.....but Garett Bischoff is somehow going to do it? Imagine if this actually happens?

I feel your pain, Optimus. I swear that Garett gets more screen time than the world champion. What's wrong with this picture?

Match #2: Austin Aries and Kid Kash vs Brian Kendrick and Jesse Sorensen
For most of the match, Aries and Kash were arguing. This was probably the best match of the night. It wasn't too bad, but can be tricky to find out what's the story in all of this. Aries leaves his partner to finish the match by himself. The finish comes when Kash misses a moonsault. This allows Jesse to his a rolling cutter for the clean win. This match told more of a story between Aries and Kash than it did Sorensen. I have no idea what will happen. Will it be Aries vs Kash? Is Sorensen still in the mix? Well, I am sure we will get more details on next week's show.

Winner via pinfall: Jesse Sorensen and Brian Kendrick

Match #3: 10 Knockout Gauntlet Match; winner is the #1 Contender to KO Title
I think this was the longest match of the night. It sure felt like it. Velvet Sky eliminates Rosita within seconds with the X Factor. She also beat Tessmacher. Angelina Love would score the next elimination with a roll up on Velvet. Mickie James would take out Angelina next. Mickie and Sarita had a pretty ugly bout. There was two noticeable botches in this match. The first was the springboard in which Sarita lost her footing. The next one was Mickie screwing up her Delayed DDT finisher. It honestly look like Sarita landed on her neck. I'm surprised her neck isn't broken. She beat Tara with the same move....and again she screwed it up. The Delayed DDT has to go or else she will kill someone. She would beat Winter and ODB....wait, what? ODB returns? I guess TNA finally decided to do something with her. Then again, do you honestly care? After she beat ODB, Madison Rayne is the last one to compete. ODB attacks Mickie out of frustration. Madison takes her time walking down the ramp so she can keep in character. After Mickie wins with a roll up, she will be getting the title match at FR. I really....REALLY dreaded this match. Was it really smart to make a 8-9 minute KO match? Yeah, I'm aware the KOs at one point were the highest drawing segment in TNA, but that was then and this is now. By the way, all that build up for Velvet and this is what she gets? Reckon I am not the biggest fan of Velvet, but I don't understand all that build up for only a four week title reign. I wouldn't be surprised if this is TNA sticking it to WWE by giving Gail Kim all this exposure. Maybe if TNA stopped worrying about what WWE thought, they would have a better idea on how to make a successful company. I bet WWE doesn't give two s***s about Gail taking all the gold in TNA. Then again, why should they? To be fair, the diva division in WWE is pretty weak at the moment. By the way, Mickie looked really sloppy in the wrestling ring tonight. She has to do better than that, and I know she is very capable of doing better. Oh, and salsesa? I swear that Tazz should come with his own dictionary....but not as much as Hulk Hogan.

Backstage where Bully Ray is talking to a....20 year old girl? Apparently, the girl was trying to ask Bully on a date, but Bully refused since he is a stud while she is ugly. They never showed the girl's face, but I bet she is glad nobody saw her working for TNA. Anyway, James Storm confronts Bully in thinking he did the attack. Bully says he is busy dealing with the 7 ft. Abyss. Judges?

Yeah, I thought so. Bully says he knows who attacked Storm, but he won't tell him. Once Storm is getting ready to leave, Bully says Storm should join Immortal. Storm mocks Bully and leaves. Yeah, I can't blame him either.

Back in the ring with Jeff Hardy. He talks about the support from the fans and how he is ready to go after the TNA world title again. I don't know how I feel about that. Hardy as champion brings back terrible flashbacks...

The Megatron title will never die. As Hardy is burning that image into your skull, Karen Jarrett interrupts. She talks over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

Sorry about that. Yeah, she talks about how Hardy isn't a real man and how she has the biggest set in TNA. Once again, way too much information. Karen.....wouldn't shut the hell up. She keeps repeating herself and it was terrible. This might be in line for worst promo ever. Yes, even worse than Scott Steiner. She even said how Hardy can't deliver the goods in the bedroom. How would she know? So, after saying she has a bigger set than anyone, she also says her husband is more man than anyone else. I understand this is typical heel heat, but nothing about this makes sense. Anyway, Jeff Jarrett shows up to attack Hardy, but he scouts it. Karen tries a low blow, but it doesn't work. The promo, the fight, the heelish tactics. It was really bad to watch. Hardy ends up overcoming the odds and stands tall. So, I guess Hardy and Jarrett continues...even though there is no reason for it to continue after Hardy won three matches at Turning Point. I guess Jarrett likes having 8+ month feuds. By the way, the Impact Zone managed to get a chuckle out of me when they chanted "STFU" towards Karen. Hilarious. In fact, that was the highlight during this whole bit....maybe for the entire evening.

Match #4: Mexican America vs Matt Morgan and Crimson for the TNA Tag Titles
The match went back and forth for a while, but Morgan and Crimson were pretty much schooling these guys. The finish comes when Morgan hits Carbon Footprint and wins the match. That's right, we have new tag team champs. Now, some people are going to think putting the titles on Morgan and Crimson was rushed. My argument against that is Mexican America didn't leave any impression as tag champs, so it made sense to get them out of the picture. A title win like this does more for Crimson than Morgan. Crimson is still trying to get over, and maybe teaming up with Morgan (who has more of a following) will help him get over. As I've said for months, Crimson has lots of potential, but TNA hasn't really picked a solid direction with him. I think if they stick with this tag team thing for a while, it can help him a lot. There is a problem. TNA's tag team division is basically dead, so they would need to create some new teams or bring in some new ones in order for this to mean something. Then again, how many times have TNA wasted a title change?

Match #5: Garett Bischoff vs Gunner
The match worked the same as before, but Garett shows even more of a backbone for this match. The finish comes when Garett hits a DDT and wins the match. It makes Gunner look ridiculous, but the guy doesn't leave much of an impression. So, I don't feel bad for him. All I see is a CM Punk look wannabe....minus all the charisma, mic skills, and talent Punk brings. Well, Garett knows how to use a DDT. Screw future world champion, TNA wants to put him in the Hall of Fame. Now, it is very possible Garett has what it takes to make it big. Age his on his side, but I just don't see a whole lot out of him at the moment.

Time for the final segment of the night. James Storm talks about how he is sick and tired of being overlooked. He totally has a point there. I've always said Storm has what it takes to be big in the wrestling business. He blames everyone for the attack he got last week and finally calls out Styles. He thinks AJ attacked him because AJ had the most to gain in terms of title matches. AJ says he didn't do it, but Storm doesn't buy it. Kaz shows up to play peacemaker. Kaz and AJ finally leave. As Storm is walking away from the ring, Kurt Angle shows up and attacks him. I think this part basically proved the concussion was kayfabe since Kurt is attacking his head. Either that or TNA doesn't give a s*** about the safety of their performers. He hits Angle Slam and says he was the one who attacked him last week. The show ends with Storm knocked out. So, we now know who attacked Storm and all the suspense is gone. Then again, by bringing back Storm as early as they did, the suspense was already gone. As I said in the beginning of the review, TNA is moving a lot of their storylines way too fast. They aren't giving them much time to develop. Imagine casual fans watching this? They would totally be lost after tonight and would probably have no interest in coming back for next week's show. I honestly feel like the show is moving so fast that if you miss one episode, you will be totally screwed the following week. If I miss a week, it should feel like I missed of week of storylines/build up. It shouldn't feel like I just missed three months of action.

Overall Impression:
I'm not even sure which show was worse for this week, Raw or Impact? I expected a pretty heavy promo night for TNA since that normally happens after a PPV, but most of these promos were underwhelming. I liked Robert Roode's promo to open up the show and I liked the moments James Storm was talking, but everything else was pretty painful. And I think TNA jumped the promo shark with having Karen cut that awful promo. I've said this so many freakin' times, but TNA needs to stop throwing so much at you. There was a lot of stuff thrown at you tonight and it can be a challenge to digest all of this. A lot of the intrigue for their world title and "who attacked Storm" storyline was taken out. Now, I am still somewhat interested in what happens with these storylines, but I can see a lot of people losing interest since it really is going too fast. Was the "CM Punk leaving WWE" storyline rushed? Yes, it was. In fact, go check out my older reviews and that's exactly what I said, but it didn't move as fast as this entire thing TNA is doing. As disappointing as Raw was this week, I might recommend that more than tonight's TNA. Was Raw bad? Yes, but at least it had a good ending segment to close out the show. The ending segment for TNA was interesting, but not quite as great as it could've been. Since I have no idea if I will do a Smackdown review for this week, I am going to discuss the matches for WWE Survivor Series. I was thinking of making a Survivor Series Rundown, but the Legend of Zelda articles have filled up my schedule for this week and I had to make some cuts. And to be honest, I really wasn't up for writing a Survivor Series Rundown. At the end of the day, it comes down to what I want to talk/write about, not what others want me to do. Anyway, here we go.

Beth Phoenix vs Eve for Divas Title; LumberJill Match: It honestly feels like this should be Beth vs Alicia Fox since she is the one getting more screen time and victories. It would make no sense to have Eve win this match since she isn't being built up to win the title. Beth escapes this match in some way.

Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison for the US Title: Kinda odd that Morrison gets this title match and not Zack Ryder. I heard something out there about how Ryder will be added in to make this a triple threat, but I am writing this based on what WWE.com has posted at the moment. I think it's smart to not have Ryder in there at the moment. Ryder is really close for a mid card title, but I think a few more victories will make his case stronger. There is a chance Morrison can get this, but it makes more sense for Dolph to retain the title. Why? Because he's the heel, Dolph Ziggler.

Team Orton vs Team Barrett in Survivor Series style match: I really want to see Team Barrett get this victory. I think it can do a lot of wonders for Wade and some of his team members to win this match. I think Wade and Cody Rhodes can profit from it the most. Then again, WWE tends to lean towards the good guys winning this type of match, so my prediction at the moment is Team Orton.

Mark Henry vs Big Show for the WHC: For some odd reason, I see this rivalry going into TLC. Since this is still a regular match, I think Henry cheats or gets himself DQed in order to escape with the title. Since TLC is next month, I think it would be good for Henry and Show to settle things in one of those type of matches. Although, not sure if it's a good idea to have Show or Henry climb a ladder. Just has a recipe for disaster. My prediction is going to be a little odd for this one, but I say Henry retains his title. Notice I didn't say who will win or lose.

Alberto Del Rio vs CM Punk for the WWE Championship: Del Rio.....isn't getting over as well as you would like for a world champion. He is getting heel heat, but it's pretty basic. Although, he seems to look a lot better in the last two weeks he has locked up with Punk. The odd thing about this is I would like to think Punk would win this, but I think they will wait until a PPV or two to have Del Rio drop the title. Truth of the matter, Del Rio needs the title more than Punk at the moment. At the same time, if Punk were to lose, that would be four PPVs in a row Punk has lost. Of course, this will only let whiny IWC fans bitch about how "Punk is getting buried", blah blah blah. If Punk is getting buried or pushed to the back, he wouldn't be as over as he is. Seriously, he gets a bigger reaction than John Cena....depending where they are performing. If Punk wasn't over, they wouldn't even give him a title match and would just stick him in some throwaway match. Then again, if I talk about all the things the IWC bitches about, this article will never be over. At the moment, it makes the most sense for Del Rio to cheat in order to keep the title, thus set up a rematch in which Punk can take the title. As a Punk fan, I wouldn't mind seeing him get the title right now. Still, my pick is Del Rio.

Rock and John Cena vs Miz and R-Truth: As of right now, there are the two likely outcomes. Either Awesome Truth gets totally destroyed by the power and Rock and Cena, in which Rock and Cena and simply just trying to say "I'm better than you". The other outcome is for Rock and Cena to focus on each other, thus allowing for Awesome Truth to steal one. I personally like the second option a lot more since people like Miz and Truth need this a lot more than Rock and Cena. In many ways, this can be a filler match. It can be filler since the entire match is building up Rock vs Cena at WM. Still, I think what will end up happening is Rock and Cena exchanging finishers to Miz and Truth. Rock and Cena is getting to the point where they want to compare dick sizes....easy, big fella. At the moment, my pick is Rock and Cena.

That will do it for some quick thoughts for Survivor Series, and that will also do it for the review. I wouldn't be surprised if people care more about my thoughts on Survivor Series than tonight's Impact. As always, tell me what you thought of my review and tonight's show. Top 20 Legend of Zelda Theme Songs Part II

Welcome back to my Top 20 Legend of Zelda theme songs.

Before I continue with the countdown, I want to list a few more honorable mentions.

Final Battle with Ganon in Ocarina of Time

The music is very appropriate. You are fighting the beast form of Ganondorf, better known as Ganon. Link has to fight this giant abomination without the Master Sword for most of the battle. Not to mention the ring of fire blocking you from the Master Sword and Princess Zelda. Yeah, I know about the Biggoron Sword, but I like to fight this guy with the Megaton hammer and light arrows. I think it makes the fight more fun and less cheap. Every time Ganon hits you, you can hear Zelda screaming in the background. That's enough motivation to not die. Link can't lose out on all that royalty booty. Time to reveal that green blood and end this fight.

Final Battle with Ganondorf in Wind Waker

I like this music for many reasons. One because of how epic it feels. It really feels like final boss music in any video game. The other thing I like about this music is because this is really the first time Princess Zelda gets involved in the fight. Sure, she helped out in Ocarina of Time, but she has more of an active role here. As you are in a sword battle with Ganondorf, Zelda has to shoot him with light arrows. See, not ALL princesses in video games are completely hopeless...

Even though I found the battle to be a little too easy, it was a great final boss and a good track to fit the mood.

Molgera Battle Theme in Wind Waker

Notice a pattern with today's honorable mentions? Well, the reason for that is I was disappointed that I couldn't get one final boss/main boss theme in the Top 20 list. I know I got a mini boss theme, but I really wanted to get a main boss theme. I also couldn't put them into one category since most of the main boss themes are very different. Then again, this is my countdown and I can do whatever the hell I want with it. Either way, consider the final boss/main boss themes as a #21 slot on the countdown. Why? Because that's how I roll. The Molgera theme in Wind Waker. Some pretty upbeat stuff for a boss fight, don't you think? Still, something about it just fits the mood. In many ways, the music sounds like something you would hear in a desert. Well, you are fighting Molgera in the sand, so it works. A pretty cool tune to listen to as you're fighting a giant worm monster that lives in the sand. Hmm....something about that sounds familiar?

Okay, without further delay, let's begin....again.

#13. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker-Dragon Roost Island

It's no secret that a lot of the Wind Waker songs featured wind instruments. In many ways, it does give it more of a ocean feeling, so I guess it makes sense. I feel a sense of pride when I hear this song. I think some people will be disappointed that this one is so low on the list. I really like this song, but there are just a few more tracks that leave a bigger impression on me as a person, and as a Zelda fan. Either way, it's a very good song to listen to while visiting the Rito tribe. Kinda odd this tribe hasn't appeared in other Zelda games. Some people like to theorize that the Rito tribe is the evolution of the Zora tribe. This theory really comes into place when you interact with the Rito tribe. Heck, if you think about it, Rito sounds a lot like Ruto, who was the water sage in Ocarina of Time. Are you confused yet? I would go into more details on this, but I think you're missing out by not playing the game for yourself.

#12. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening-Tal Tal Heights

My favorite song on Link's Awakening. This song makes you feel like you have to hurry and finish off evil. Well, you hear this tune when you're getting ready to fight the final boss, so I guess it's appropriate. My biggest gripe with this song is that you barely hear it in the game. It would've been great for this song to get more video game time. In fact, it would also help if they decided to bring this back for future Zelda games. Well, it had to leave some sort of impression to gamers, considering a remix version of this song made into into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Overall, a very epic song to prepare you to fight off your darkest nightmares.

#11.Legend of Zelda (NES)-Main Title Theme 

In many ways, the theme that started it all. This was the first ever tune you heard when you popped that gold cartridge into the original NES. You have a flashing gold triangle and you are told that Princess Zelda has been captured by Ganon, so it is up to Link to save the day. You also get a rundown in the inventory of items you will find while on this quest. Yeah, you really get a sense of nostalgia whenever you hear this tune. While the original is a really nice song to listen to, I really like the version that was featured in Twilight Princess. The Twilight Princess version was used in the opening of the game and boy does it leave an impression. Don't believe me? Well, take a look at this...

The scenery. The atmosphere. Seeing Link riding through Hyrule on Epona. Then to top it off, you see Wolf Link howling just as the title shows up. All around, it's gorgeous and beautiful. This is personally my favorite opening (In terms of visuals) of any Zelda title so far. Still, this scene probably wouldn't have happened without the original tune. There isn't much I can say about it, other than "wow".

#10. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link-Castle Theme

My favorite track on a game that I think gets a lot of hate. Many people complain how this game didn't stick to the classic overhead format that you get with the other Zelda games. Instead, this game is a side scroller. At the same time, this was only the second Zelda game at the time, so it wasn't like there was a format in place. Unlike other Zelda games where you use a wide inventory of weapons, you pretty much attack with your sword. Now, there was a few things that took place in this game that would make it into other Zelda games. This was the first Zelda game that had Link using magic, which would be very common as the series moved forward. Plus, it's the only Zelda game that encouraged prostitution...

Oh, I'm sure there was many others who thought of that. Hey, Zelda is in a deep sleep. Link has to get his fixens somewhere. Zelda II might be considered the black sheep of the bunch, but I really liked this game growing up and it gets more hate than it should. I do admit the difficulty is up there with this game, but just because the game is hard doesn't make it a bad game. The castle theme is my favorite theme in this game. It fits the mood perfectly. Link is running around in these dungeons slashing enemies, collecting keys, picking up new items, and encounter a giant boss. And that's why this song is so rad.

#9. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-Hidden Village

One of my favorite scenes from Twilight Princess, but why is that? If you play this part of the game, we're not even in a Zelda game anymore. It sounds like we have jumped ship into a John Wayne movie. The music gives off a very western, gunfight, sort of picture. What's even stranger is this style of music fits the scene perfectly. You have Link fighting off 20 Bulbins with their fire arrows. You can use your sword if you want to, but with this type of music playing, there's just something satisfying of shooting an arrow through their skull. Screw Cowboys and Aliens, all you need is the Hero of Time.

#8. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-Hyrule Field Theme

The music gives you sense of running through a field since you have to accomplish something quickly. Still, the song can make you feel upbeat and somehow make you think you can finish your quest, no matter how challenging it gets. I really feel this comes into play when the music hits 3:19 (at least for this video). That's probably my favorite part of the track. Unlike the Hyrule Field theme in Ocarina of Time, this tune changes a lot depending on the situation (In battle, with Epona, running around, etc), so you're not listening to the same thing all the time. It's like discovering a new part of your favorite song that you didn't know existed. There is a different tune that happens during nightfall. I'm personally not the biggest fan of it, but it just makes me want to anticipate those daytime levels a lot more. The only thing that ruins this theme. The damn postman yelling HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!! Seriously, what the hell is his problem? There was also a different version that makes you feel intirely different. This happens when you rescue a certain someone in the game...

I know this will sound corny, but isn't that touching? Such a moving piece of music here. It gives you a sense of doing the right thing, which is appropriate with the scene. I still like the upbeat version best, but this slower version really made me see the beauty of this tune. Regardless of which version you prefer, a theme song that is worthy enough of holding the #8 spot on this countdown.

#7. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past-Death Mountain Theme

This music gives you a sense that you are nearing enemy territory. Which makes perfect sense considering Ganon's castle at the top of Death Mountain. As you are marching you way up the mountain, you can hear the wind going insane with thunderstorms all around the area. This is more or less a tune for the bad guys. You can picture any evil doer using this type of music. I can totally picture the Imperial Army marching to this. Either way, a very fitting tune to listen to as you defeat Ganon....for the second time......or more.

WrestlingNerd's Top 20 Legend of Zelda Theme Songs Part I

Well, this is very different to what I normally do. Most people know me for talking about wrestling, but I figured we should do something entirely different today. With Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword set for release later this week, I thought it would be fun to look back at the Legend of Zelda series. I wouldn't call myself a hardcore gamer, but I definitely like to play video games on my spare time. Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and the Triforce are all symbols of my childhood that I still hold til this very day. Some say what makes the Zelda games so good is the gameplay, characters, and story. I think all of these components do make the Zelda games really stand out, but let's not forget the music. The soundtracks for any video game can really make the game stand out. It is no question that Zelda has featured some of video games best musical tracks. That's why today I am going to do a Top 20 list of my favorite Legend of Zelda Theme Songs. Keep in mine this is MY Top 20, so it will obviously differ from your Top 20. In other words, don't complain or get angry that your favorite tune didn't make my list, cuz there is a ton of great themes from the Zelda franchise and my views will be different from anyone else. Then again, I think the debate is the fun part in all of this. So, grab your Master Sword and let's hookshot our way into this list.

Before I start the list, I want to talk about some honorable mentions that were good tracks, but couldn't quite make my list. Believe me, it was really difficult to pick only 20 musical pieces for the Zelda series. You can literally pick one game in the Zelda franchise and use all of those in your top list. I should also note that a lot of themes in Zelda games end up getting some sort of remix in future games. So, we won't have like five different versions of the same tune take up their own slot, as they will share the same slot depending on the theme in question. Anyway, let's talk about some of the honorable mentions.

Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks-Overworld Theme

The first one to talk about is from Spirit Tracks. This game gets a lot of hate because of the fact trains are the main gimmick of the game. Personally, I didn't think the game was that bad. Although, I do admit the puzzle solving in this game made me want to punch someone in the face. Reckon, puzzles are nothing out of the ordinary for a Zelda game, but I think they went a little too far with Spirit Tracks. The theme that gets the honorable mention is the overworld theme from Spirit Tracks. Every time I hear this theme, I can hear the "chuga chuga chuga" sound the train makes in the background. A lot of the music for this game featured pan flutes, which is interesting since the instrument you use in the game is a pan flute. Then again, not really if you have played previous Zelda titles. Either way, this might be the perfect music to listen to whenever you're on a train.

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask-Pirate Fortress

The next honorable mention is the Pirate Fortress theme from Majora's Mask. This is the only Zelda game I've played and never finished. I actually have gone back in playing it and I am somewhere lost in the Great Bay Temple. Yeah....I will leave it at that. When you hear this tune, you are trying to rescue a bunch of eggs while Gerudo thieves are protecting them. The goal is not get caught. If you played Ocarina of Time and went to rescue the carpenters in Gerudo Valley, this is a similar situation. The intro to this theme almost felt like Ridley's hideout from the Metroid games. Great, do I have to rescue a baby metroid while searching for these damn things? Anyway, you have to pretty much go all Solid Snake while going through this area....unless you have the stone mask. Either way, it's a kick ass song to listen to while breaking an entry. Keep that in mind the next time you go on a crime wave (WrestlingNerd doesn't approve of criminal acts).

Epona's Song/Lon Lon Ranch

This is a tune that has made it into countless games. To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of this tune in Ocarina of Time. It just sounded way too country western for my taste. What really made me like this tune was the remade version in Twilight Princess. To be more precise, it was the version that is played when you restore Ilia's memory, which kinda sounds like a love song or a touching moment. Damn, Link has to be the ladies' man of Hyrule. Think about it? Zelda, Midna, Saria, Ruto, Nabooru, Ilia and the list goes on. Who knows how much booty this guy will get in Skyward Sword? Anyway, a song worth listening to if you want to impress the ladies on your horse.....and I'm referring to Epona.

Now that we talked about some of my favorite tracks that didn't make the cut, let's talk about the ones that did.

#20. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-Gerudo Desert

When you listen to this music, it gives you a sense of evil while combing the desert...

Anyway, the reason I also like this theme is because this is the place you go in order to get to Arbiter's Grounds, which happens to be my favorite temple in the game. I also like this music because I felt this is where Twilight Princess really took off. I really love Twilight Princess, but I think the biggest flaw is the game starts off really slow. When I heard this tune, I felt the game was finally getting to the good stuff, which is why Twilight Princess is a very solid game for the Zelda franchise. From the Cave of Ordeals to the spinner battle with Stallord, the Gerudo Desert is the place to be.

#19. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker-Mini Boss Battle

A theme from a game that got a lot of backlash before it was even released. It was amazing how many people complained about Wind Waker because of the character design. Well, this game is a prime example of the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" because this gives some of the top Zelda titles a run for its money. I don't really have a #1 favorite Zelda game because all the games are special in their unique way, but I can definitely say Wind Waker is in my Top Five (Wrestling fans will get this references....My fave five, dawg). This might be one of my favorite battle themes in the Zelda franchise. You get the sense that you're in a really tough battle whenever you hear this theme. If you have played Wind Waker, one enemy comes into mind when hearing this tune, Darknuts. Those Darknuts might be a challenge, but as long as you have this theme in the back of your mind, these guys won't stand a chance. The music tends to change as you manage to attack the enemy with your sword. All around, it's a great tune to listen to while you continue to punish Ganon's minions.

#18. Song of Storms

Screw the sunlight, we want to make it rain. This is one of those tunes that has made it into countless Zelda games. This song made more of an impression on me when it was re-made in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Even though its version of Song of Storms combines two other Zelda themes).

Then again, going back and playing the games again, I can see why people have this as their favorite song to play on the ocarina. Personally, I have a couple of other tunes that are a little higher on my list, but we will get to that when it comes. Was anyone a little creeped out by Guru Guru, the guy you learned this song from?

Come on. He's turning a crank near his crotch. What do you think he's doing? Well, I guess that's why he needs to make it rain so often? Despite that disturbing thought, the Song of Storms is a cool song to listen to if you want to make it rain or find a secret.

#17. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time-Opening Title

Imagine being a kid back in 1998. Video games were barely making their jump into the new age of gaming, 3D. So far, Mario was doing fine with Super Mario 64, but would the Zelda franchise get the same results? What is often regarded as the best Zelda game of all time, Ocarina of Time didn't disappoint. I remember playing this sexy beast back when I was younger and listening to this track. I knew that this wasn't your typical Zelda game, as this game was going to blow your balls off with awesomeness. Link riding around on Epona, the sun set, and the whistle of the Ocarina. The visuals are just so beautiful. A fantastic opening for a fantastic video game.

#16. Fairy Fountain Theme

This theme has made it in just about every Zelda game ever made since Link to the Past. You might recognize it as the theme you hear when you are about to select your game file. This is also the tune you hear whenever you encounter the fairy fountain in the Zelda games. It's a very relaxing tune. Although, kinda hard to relax when you encounter the great fairies in OoT or Majora's Mask. I respect Miyamoto, but what the hell was he thinking when that design? I think they were trying to make the fairies look exotic, but they look like transvestites. Maybe Tim Curry would like these fairies? Regardless, a very relaxing tune for the Zelda franchise. Kinda difficult for me to choose my favorite one of the Fairy Fountain themes, but there's nothing wrong with the original.

#15. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time-Hyrule Field Theme

I really like how this theme starts off. It almost sounds like birds are chirping as we embark on a new day. Of course, that would change once you make you way across Hyrule field. In many ways, Hyrule Field is in the center piece of everything. No matter if you had to make you way to Hyrule Castle, or Lake Hylia, it would normally start in Hyrule field. Of course, the thing that stared the s*** out of me was the Peahats. Other than their freakish design, they weren't hard to fight. Then again, if you are freaked out by Peahats, you never met Floormasters. What I also like about this song is it has many emotions. It starts off nice and sweet to where you can go for a brisk walk, but the tempo starts to rise and now you are running  with a sense of urgency and danger ahead. Anyway, another great theme to listen to while you are riding on Epona. Hooray for my horsey.

#14. Serenade of Water

Oh, I bet this song brings in a heavy amount of emotion whenever you hear it. Some people like it because of the smooth, calm sound. On the other side of the fence, people hate this song with a passion. Why? Well, because it's the Serenade of Water. It brings gamers back a haunting memory and/or frustration when playing OoT......the Water Temple....

Now, I'll admit. The first time playing through the Water Temple in OoT, I was frustrated. I can't count the amount of times I had to go back to the lower levels to either find a key, find an item, or raise/lower the water of this contraption. Ganon must have really been a dick when he thought of this design. But as I got older and played through this game a few more times, the Water Temple isn't that bad. It's definitely one of those places where you're gonna get lost the first time going through it, but it isn't so bad a second time. Besides, if you want tough water temples, you clearly never been through the Great Bay Temple in Majora's Mask. Seriously, the Great Bay Temple might be the most frustration temple in any Zelda game. I'M STILL LOST!!!. Anyway, I really grew to love this music in the Twilight Princess remix.

If you listen to the remix, you can almost hear a cool breeze in the background. The song gives you sense of optimism, but a bit of sorrow since you hear this tune when you encounter Queen Rutela. A very touching song.

WrestlingNerd Presents: WWE Raw Review 11/14/11 (Plus special announcement for Legend of Zelda fans)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at WWE Raw on 11/14/11. With the Rock set to return tonight, how will this effect tonight and Survivor Series? Well, let's find out and start the review.

We open up the show with Michael Cole. He talks about how Jim Ross decided to show up and it's time for the Michael Cole Challenge. Quick, hit the DVR button!!! He continues to make fat jokes regarding JR. The rules to the Michael Cole Challenge work like this. JR has to win three separate challenges from Cole. If JR wins all of them, he gets his job back on commentary and Cole quits. The first challenge was an arm wrestling contest. JR actually beats Cole in about a second. Cole makes an excuse that JR's breathe is awful. The second challenge is a dance off. Cole dances as if he was getting mauled by a tiger. JR on the other hand.....what's the best way to describe it? I would say it was disturbingly awesome. Anyway, the fans definitely vote for JR on this one, so just one more to go. Cole finally unveils the third challenge and continues to show why is the most hated villain in the WWE. The third is a "who weights less" competition. They both get on a scale. As you would've guessed, Cole wins as JR is 39 pounds heavier. It was actually a lot close than I thought. So, as Cole is gloating about "winning" the challenge, CM Punk interrupts. Punk in many ways breaks the fourth wall, but what else is new? He basically says the Michael Cole challenge was complete bulls*** and it was just a waste of time. Glad to see SOMEONE is at least self aware of what's going on at the moment. He says Cole's 15 minutes are up and wants him to leave forever. Punk also claims he will become WWE champion and it's people like Cole. Laurinaitis and Del Rio that are making this show suck. John Laurinaitis shows up and says his 38,000 twitter followers didn't want the Michael Cole challenged to be interrupted and now he's disappointed with Punk. Punk counter argues by saying screw you and your 38,000 followers. I didn't know David Otunga created 38,000 twitter accounts? Moving along, Laurinaitis says it will be Punk and Big Show vs Alberto Del Rio and Mark Henry later tonight. Cole is laughing at Punk and demands an apology, while Punk is smiling at the camera. Punk gives a flinching headbutt (It didn't look like he hit the headbutt. Either Cole just fell to the ground, or Punk defies the laws of physics). As Cole is on the ground, Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice and Cole is crying like a little girl. The scene ends with Punk laughing as he says "I'm sorry". Well, I really didn't like the Michael Cole challenge. It was just another excuse to embarrass JR, but at least it wasn't as bad as say the time JR had to kiss Vince McMahon's ass. The scene didn't serve any purpose for the show and was just an excuse for Cole to get a microphone in his hand, but at least the WWE is self aware. With Punk going out there and saying it was a waste of time, WWE was basically admitting this entire Cole/JR thing didn't serve a purpose. Again, with all the stuff JR has gone through in his career, he doesn't get enough credit. I did enjoy what Punk had to say out there. In many ways, he actually made this scene entertaining. In other words, not a great segment, but Punk makes it tolerable. In Punk we trust.

There was a backstage scene where Matt Striker was anticipating the arrival of the Rock. A limo arrives, but it turns out to be Mick Foley. Striker wonders what Mick is doing here. Isn't it obvious? He's finally out of Hulk Hogan's Circus and is back with the WWE. Cue angry TNA fanboys in 3.....2.....1....now. Mick says he wants to talk about Rock and John Cena later tonight.

Match #1: Sin Cara and Kofi Kingston vs Cody Rhodes and Hunico
JR was doing commentary for this match since Cole was taken out with the Anaconda Vice. Rhodes is no longer wearing the mask and even comes out to new entrance music. He cut a short video in how this is a new age for Rhodes or something like that. I am just glad he is no longer wearing the plastic mask and giving people a Redead mask. This was a pretty short match. The finish comes when Rhodes hits Cross Rhodes on Kofi for the clean victory. The booking made sense since Rhodes is starting a new character and needs to build his stock back up. I hope that once Survivor Series is over, Rhodes actually starts defending that IC title.

Winner via pinfall: Cody Rhodes and Hunico

Short backstage scene in which Santino and Zack Ryder are arguing over who is better, Rock or Cena. This eventually leads to Santino signing Ryder's petition for a US title match. I guess Laurinaitis didn't bother to check out what his 38,000 twitter followers are saying in regards to Ryder getting a title match?

Match #2: Dolph Ziggler vs Mason Ryan
Vickie Guerrero talked about how Christian will not be able to compete because of an injury he got during the European tour. She also blames Teddy Long for Christian getting injured. Since Team Barrett is in need of a replacement, Dolph will be taking the slot. I wouldn't be surprised if the plan was for Dolph to defend the US title against Ryder at the PPV, but plans change because of injury. I think this made the most sense, but I can see people saying why not put in Brodus Clay in this match? Well, since these type of matches favors the good guys (Not always, but the track record points in the direction to the face), it would be kinda stupid to have Brodus make his long awaited debut in a match he ends up losing in. It would totally take the hype out of Brodus' character. Dolph is a fine substitute, but there is still a low number of matches for this PPV. They will definitely need to address that as they film Smackdown later this week. By the way, Dolph continues to show improvement on the mic. He seems more and more comfortable with the mic every week. The match didn't last long. Mason was dominating until Vickie slaps him in the face and the ref calls for the bell. After the match, Dolph is running away until John Morrison shows up and tosses Dolph back in the ring. Mason hits a Full Nelson Slam to end the segment. Kinda odd that Morrison showed up, but as I mentioned last week, they might be trying something with Morrison...again. Just have to wait and see how things go. By the way, Cole is now back on commentary as Laurinaitis took JR out of the building. That makes an already pointless segment even more pointless. Is it Monday or Thursday night?

Winner via DQ: Mason Ryan

There was a short backstage scene of Mick signing Ryder's petition. I wonder if Foley is having TNA flashbacks by interacting with Ryder? Hmm.....probably not.

We finally begin the second hour of the three hour show with Mick. He talks about being back in the WWE and how it feels great. He talks about Rock and Cena and even though people don't like Cena, he thinks Cena is one of the best performers ever. He also realizes that Rock and Cena need to work together and get on the same page, so he has his work cut out for him. He wants Cena to come out. John appreciates what Mick is trying to do, but it won't work since Rock and Cena don't need to work together to beat Awesome Truth. This is when Mick does a "This is your life" for Cena. Oh.....let the torment being. They show baby pictures of Cena. I want to know how in the world did Mick get a hold of baby pictures of Cena? I hear a large amount of wrestling logic blowing through that window. I think Cena said the most appropriate phrase in "I don't think this is a good idea". They invite Cena's little league coach, Bull Buchanon (Cena's rapper lacky during his Marky Mark phase), and even Cena's father. Needless to say, this segment was bombing. It was like watching a really bad high school play. You want it to end, but they have to keep going for the purpose of the play. Damn, where's the Song of Time when you need it? You can even tell that Cena wasn't enjoying it. Even he knew this was a bomb. Cena wants this all to be over, but Mick has one more guest. The Rock interrupts the segment and hits Rock Bottom on Mick...

I've never been much of a fan of these "This is your life" segments. When they did it the first time with the Rock, it worked so well. Even since then, these segments have turned into terrible substitute teachers. To be fair, I think it was intended for this segment to be bad. At least I HOPE that's the reasoning behind this. The only reason I say that is because everyone on the show was talking about how this segment was horrible. I'm trying to look at this and see something I like.....and I can't find anything. Let's just move on....

Match #3: Sheamus vs Jack Swagger
This was alright match to watch. It wasn't anything special, but I enjoyed it for what it was worth. The finish comes when Sheamus counters the Ankle Lock and hits the Brogue Kick for the clean win. By they way, did King just say he has a Justin Bieber T-shirt? Considering how Bieber already sounds like a girl, I can actually buy that.

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus

Another backstage scene of Ryder getting more petition signatures. This time, he gets the Bellas to sign it. Del Rio gets in the picture and the Bellas are instantly all over Del Rio. They must have a thing for rich and boring men. Anyway, they try to get into his pants while Del Rio talks about beating Punk at Survivor Series and throwing a party. Ryder comes in and says they should all party with him....

Match #4: Kelly Kelly vs Natalya
The match was a joke. I don't even think it lasted 30 seconds. Kelly counters Shapeshooter with her devastating finisher.....the roll up. You think for her trained wrestling background, Natalya would be able to deal with things like roll ups. Again, wrestling logic can be a bitch.

Winner via pinfall: Kelly Kelly

Backstage where Laurinaitis is on the phone with Brodus. He says his debut will NOT happen tonight because he doesn't want Brodus to be overshadowed by the Rock. You know, he actually has a point there. Del Rio interrupts and talks about some magazine, while Laurinaitis is concerned that Punk has been overshadowing Del Rio during this rivalry and he wants Del Rio to step it up because he doesn't want Punk to win the title. Del Rio talks about the attack from last week and how he will be champion for a long time. Remember the last time Del Rio said something along these lines? I think it was when he dropped the title at Night of Champions. Well, maybe that's good news for Punk. A backstage interview with Awesome Truth. They don't answer any of Striker's fanboy questions, so they leave. Such a riveting interview. Watch out, Bryant Gumbel. There was also a quick scene in which Del Rio attacked Punk in the back. He mainly focused on the shoulder of Punk. Officials arrive to stop the attack. Damn, those spider senses are complete bulls***.

Match #5: CM Punk and Big Show vs Alberto Del Rio and Mark Henry
Punk is out there selling the Del Rio attack. This sadly might have been the best match of the night....and that's not saying much. The finish comes when Henry hits World's Strongest Slam on Punk. Show tackles Henry out of the ring, which allows Del Rio to pick the bones for the victory. After the match, Del Rio continues to punish Punk by locking in Cross Armbreaker. Show arrives to save Punk, but Del Rio retreats. There seems to be more fire in the eyes of Del Rio after tonight. This does make the WWE Championship match a little more exciting. This also adds something for Henry and Show. While the match was lackluster, the story for both world title matches was told very well tonight. That does make the title matches a little more intriguing.

Winner via pinfall: Alberto Del Rio and Mark Henry

Santino is in the ring and talks about taking his career seriously and becoming a champion...

After you are literally done laughing your ass off, Kevin Nash interrupts. He says he's a big fan of Santino's air trombone. Santino takes the bait, which leads to him getting his head kicked off. Nash talks about how he got this big reaction at the Royal Rumble and still wanted to go, but Triple H was holding him back. Nash ends the scene by hitting Jackknife on Santino. This was basically an abridged version of what Nash talked about last week. It wasn't as strong as last week. I think Nash vs Triple H will end up happening at TLC, since that seems to be the best course of action. Despite very little development between the Nash/Trips storyline tonight, I still find it interesting. Not sure why that is.

Match #6: Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton
Both teams were standing in their captain's corner for this match. The match didn't last too long. Definitely a downgrade to the Barrett/Orton match that happened on last week's SD. The finish comes when Orton is setting up for RKO, but Cody interferes. This causes a DQ. After the match, all the team members are fighting at one time. Hunico ends up being the last one left in the ring for Team Barrett as the rest are on the outside. Randy hits RKO on Hunico, and Mason throws Hunico towards Team Barrett. Just a lot more build up for the Survivor Series match. It seems pretty interesting, but it is getting overshadowed by all the other matches that don't involve Rock and Cena. We are finally coming to the final segment of the night.

Winner via DQ: Randy Orton

Time for the Rock to make this appearance. Rock talks about how his day went, his Survivor Series match, and boots to asses. I have to admit, a boots to asses chant did get a chuckle out of me. Awesome Truth interrupts. Miz and R-Truth talk down to Rock until Cena shows up. Cena and Rock start exchanging insults at one another until Miz says he has had enough. Miz says he is sick of this show being all about Rock and Cena and they aren't gonna take it anymore. This starts a fight between the two teams. Rock hits Rock Bottom on Truth. Cena is about to hit Miz with AA, but Miz escapes, only to walk into a Rock Bottom. The Rock leaves the ring while Cena is a little stunned. The show ends with Rock and Cena trading more insults. So, I will admit, the Rock being live on TV adds so much more to the show as opposed to a pre-recording or a via satellite segment. You can just feel the energy the Rock brings. I enjoyed what this segment brought to the table, but it might've been the most entertaining thing this entire night has featured. I like the whitty comebacks Rock and Cena exchanged at one another. This does make the intrigue for the tag team match at Survivor Series go up.....to a degree. Right now, I guess my main problem is it looks like Miz and Truth are just going to be Rock and Cena's bitch at SS. They will put up a fight for a decent amount of time, but when it's time to end the PPV, Rock and Cena will start hitting finishing moves left and right so they can one up each other. I can see it now. Cena hits a top rope legdrop, Rock hits Rock Bottom. Cena hits AA, Rock hits People's Elbow. Cena locks in STF, Rock locks in Sharpshooter. In the meantime, Miz and Truth need an ambulance for the ass whipping they are going to receive. In many ways, this makes the main event at SS a filler match since they are most likely going to continue the build up for Rock vs Cena at WM 28. Now, it's entirely possible that Rock and Cena argue during the match, which allows Miz and Truth to steal one. I don't know. I guess I am just not too fond of the idea of Awesome Truth getting destroyed like that. They spent a great deal of time with Awesome Truth. From getting "fired", running a muck, and getting rehired. WWE is definitely things with Miz and Truth. It would seem like a waste to just throw them out there as bait for Rock and Cena. Of course....things have been set up for Cena to turn heel. I just have this hard time buying the WWE actually going through with a Cena heel turn. In many ways, I don't see the point of turning Cena heel when this guy gets as much boos as Michael Cole on a weekly basis. He really is the New York Yankees of this show. People love him and/or respect him, but there is just a ton of people that hate him. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE is doing all of this to work the IWC. Why? Because the IWC has been begging for a Cena heel turn for years. While I think it would make for very interesting TV, I just don't think WWE has the confidence to actually go through with it. Then again, with CM Punk going over extremely well as a face, maybe a Cena heel turn is better now than it has looked for years? Well, with the way WWE has built up this main event and based off my own thoughts, I guess the main event is worth checking out? Then again, I wouldn't set your hopes too high for a Cena heel turn, but anything can happen in the WWE.

Overall Impression:
I have to be honest. Tonight's show really went slow. Last week's Raw was decent to watch, but I can't say the same for tonight's show. There was just a lot of stuff that really didn't make it "must see" TV. The opening wasn't anything great until Punk showed up to make it interesting. None of the matches were really worthwhile. Then again, I kinda expected that since they will save the better wrestling quality for Survivor Series. Still, it would've been nice to get a couple of matches that are worth a second look. Oh, and let's not forget the "This is your life" bit. That was painful to watch. This might've been one of the most boring episodes of Raw I have seen in a while. The ONLY thing that made the evening worthwhile was the final bit. I really liked the delivery and build up between Rock/Cena and Awesome Truth. They built up the match like the main event it has been labeled, and it might make for a couple of surprises. Then again, there can also be some disappointment to witness with the match, but we will wait and see what happens at Survivor Series. I really can't recommend Raw tonight. The show moved really slow tonight. Based on my history, when a show moves slow, it doesn't make it great. If time flies when you're watching wrestling, it generally means there is enough interest in the show. That "This is you life" segment seemed to last for over an hour, but it only lasted for around 20 minutes. Still....despite all of that, I really liked how the show ended. I think the ending made it worthwhile, but I still can't recommend the whole show. Just watch the last 20-25 minutes and I think you will be plenty satisfied with Raw for this week. If you wanted to be disappointed, you can put yourself through an endurance test and try to watch the entire show, but I do offer caution. WrestlingNerd Presents: TNA Turning Point 2011 Review (Or is it Toilet Point?)

What up wrestling fans, I'm the WrestlingNerd bringing you another written review. Today, we take a look at TNA Turning Point 2011. So, would this turn into a PPV classic or would it be a dud? Well, let's find out and start the review.

Match #1: Eric Young vs Robbie E for the TV Championship
We open up with a comedy...I mean, TV Championship match. Tazz talks about how Eric has a "dirty, stinky bush", while Mike Tenay is saying how he can relate. Whoa, way too much information, Tenay. If you watched this match, you can actually hear people cheering for Robbie. Either there are some anti-Zack Ryder fans in the audience, or this guy has managed to pick up a fanbase. While I am not the biggest fan of Robbie, he isn't THAT bad in the ring. I always felt he was put in the wrong division when they stuck him in the X Division. Robbie's in-ring style is more of a brawler, which doesn't really work for X Division wrestling. Anyway, Eric is doing more of that comedy stuff you're used to seeing from him on a weekly/monthly basis. There was even a point where Eric started "hulking up", but instead of charging up, he takes off his pants. You're probably thinking I am joking, but I wish I was. The match wasn't really the best way of kicking off Turning Point. Once things actually got serious between these two, Rob Terry would interfere in typical bad guy fashion. The finish comes when Terry trips Eric from getting back in the ring. Robbie picks up the bones and we have a new TV Champion. Now, some people are going to think this is a good thing since the TV belt is no longer used for comedy. I have a really hard time buying that argument when Robbie E is the new champion. He's just as much of a comedy act as Eric Young. Now, I guess I will try to be fair and say they will use this opportunity to build up Robbie, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is TNA ONCE AGAIN trying to pull one over on WWE since they managed to give a few singles championships to their Zack Ryder rip-off, while WWE has yet to give the title to the real Ryder. Here's the difference. Ryder is actually taking baby steps and is making strides to get a title. His charisma is only getting better and he is just about ready for a mid-card title, while Robbie isn't well established and him winning a title doesn't mean anything. Robbie's charisma is there, but there's nothing special about it. There isn't a whole lot that really makes this guy stand out. I've been watching wrestling for years and I have seen people with more talent than Robbie never get anything. I honestly don't even know what TNA sees out of this guy. To be fair, the TV Championship is a joke. So, it only makes sense to put the title on a joke like Robbie.

Match #2: Mexican America vs Ink Inc; Mixed Tag match for the TNA Tag Titles
The way this match worked is the ladies from each pairing would be involved in this match. Sarita was actually the one involved in this match, while Rosita was just playing the role of cheerleader in this match. I can't believe TNA showed a video package for this rivalry. Oh, I'm sure everyone hit the DVR button for the exciting build up between two tag teams that are really bland. The wrestling aspect was okay, but there is just too much shenanigans to get invested in this match. Then again, it's a Mexican America match, so it's nothing new. Sarita was no longer wearing the mask. I guess this is to make people care. There was a point where Ink Inc actually took off Anarquia's pants to reveal this bare ass. They were trying to show the tattoo they gave him weeks back. Yeah, like anyone is going to remember that? Thanks Anarquia for mooning Termina. Now, we're doomed....

Anyway, the finish comes when Rosita gets involved. Toxxin is dealing with her. This allows Sarita to use one of the title belts on Toxxin. She gets a roll up for the win and Mex keeps their titles. Remember when TNA's tag team division used to be one of the highlights of the show? With Beer Money gone, Motor City Machine Guns out of commission, and these two teams carrying the load, this division is really falling apart.

Match #3: Austin Aries vs Jesse Sorensen vs Kid Kash for X Division Title
There was a backstage interview between Austin Aries and Kid Kash in how they got a plan to deal with Jesse Sorensen. What I found hilarious was how Jesse signed a football and gave it to a five year old. The kid got this football and he has this WTF look on his face. See, even five year olds think Jesse's football props are bulls***. Aries continues to impress me. Not only was he the most interesting thing in this match, he did the Eddie Guerrero dance, attempted a Frog Splash, and even did that spinning face trample Eddie used to do. Hard to believe it was six years ago on this date that we lost Eddie. Latino Heat will live on. Kash and Aries were mostly working together for this match, but the alliance did break down a couple of times. Some people enjoyed this match, but with the majority of the match being a handicap match, it can be somewhat distracting. Then again, based on what has happened so far, this was a pretty good match to watch. The finish comes when Kash hits the Double Underhook Piledriver on Jesse, but Aries is on the outside and puts Jesse's foot on the rope. Kash never saw Aries put Jesse's foot on the rope. The referee breaks up the count because of the foot. Aries runs back into the ring and quickly scores a roll up victory on Kash for the victory. Aries gloats about how this was all apart of the plan while Kash isn't too happy. Really glad to see Aries continue his championship reign. Jesse is way too under developed for a title and Kash's best days are behind him.

Match #4: Christopher Daniels vs RVD
I have no idea how this match worked. Before the match started, Daniels talked about wanting this to be a wrestling match because he doesn't like hardcore. It's just an excuse for cheap heat since the man has been using a screwdriver for the last month. On the flip side of all this, RVD actually shook hands with Daniels to agree to a regular match. Okay, so I guess this is a one fall match......BUT WAIT. Towards the end, there was stuff like steel chairs and a screwdriver that would get involved, and the referee allows it. It's like the rules kept changing as the match went forward. That's a good way to confuse your audience, TNA. I understand this was all done for Daniels to get cheap heat, but it's still pretty stupid. Tazz continues his attempt at being a heel commentator by always sticking up for the bad guys. He talks about how all that hardcore stuff is overrated. Tazz says hardcore is overrated? That would be like Ganondorf saying the Triforce of Power is overrated. Again, I understand what Tazz is trying to do here, but that's insane. I can see some people being split on this match. Some might think it was good, while others might find it to be a letdown. I really didn't like this match. There was some decent wrestling, but this match could've been a lot better. The main problem with this match is the lack of story. You really do need to develop your rivalries in order for people to pay attention to them. The finish comes when Daniels goes for that stupid screwdriver (Maybe he can get a personality if he did something ELSE with that screwdriver?), but RVD counters with Van Daminator. RVD hits the Frog Splash and wins this match cleanly. Some people will be upset that Daniels didn't get the win, but I'm kinda glad he lost. Daniels doesn't really do it for me in terms of generic heels. Daniels makes Alberto Del Rio look like Rowdy Roddy Piper. That's really saying something too.

Match #5: Matt Morgan vs Crimson
Considering their size, this match wasn't too bad. I wouldn't call it a watcher, but it was entertaining at times. Another reason I liked this match was how well Morgan and Crimson told a story. Sometimes, the storyline is more important than the actual wrestling match. Morgan and Crimson took each other to the limit. Both guys were getting near falls on each other, but couldn't put the other one away. Morgan hits Carbon Footprint, but only a two count. Crimson hits the Sky High, but only a two count. This is where you started to see the fire in both of their eyes show up. The two start to talk down to each other, but both were smiling about the whole thing. One guy would throw a punch, the other would laugh about it, and would counter with a punch of their own. This went on for a while. The referee was loosing control of the match, but neither man listened to the ref. Once the ref got tossed to the ground, he calls for the bell, thus issuing a double disqualification. After the match, Morgan and Crimson continue to punch each other. Security arrives to separate them. While this shows tension, you can sense the respect each man has for the other. I base this on a fact both guys were laughing about everything, but they really wanted to beat the other one up. I can see two possibilities after tonight. The obvious one is Morgan and Crimson having a rematch. With the match telling a great story, I can actually be invested for the rematch. That says a lot because the build up going into this match wasn't there. The other possibility I can see out of tonight is Morgan and Crimson forming a tag team. Both guys wanted to beat the other one up, but they also seemed to respect each other at the end of the day. I can see them joining forces and deciding to take on the tag champs. Some might think of Crimson going into tag team wrestling as a step backwards, but with how under developed the guy is, I think a good tag title reign can get him in the right direction. Definitely an interesting ending to this match. So far, this has been my favorite match, but because of the story being told here.

Double DQ

Backstage where Bully Ray and Scott Steiner talk about Abyss and Anderson. Steiner talks about going into "parts unknown" and nailing Abyss' girl. He talks about how fat and ugly she is and how Bully will have to go after her next. Damn, Steiner must really be striking out with the ladies to go after fat and ugly chicks. This has to be one of the worst promos I've ever heard. In fact, let Bill Cosby do the honors....

Match #6: Bully Ray and Scott Steiner vs Abyss and Mr. Anderson
People ofter wonder why I say so many negative things about the Impact Zone? I'm sorry, but I instantly lose respect for you as an audience when you're chanting "We want Steiner". This match was so boring. In fact, I actually went back and watched it a second time just to see if I can find something I liked.....mission failed. There was a point where Anderson did a blind tag, but the ref didn't bother to do anything about it. The only reason I bring this up is because Anderson and Steiner are in the middle of the ring and the ref seems find with the blind tag. The confusion comes into play when Steiner hits Franken Steiner, but the ref refuses to make the count because Anderson isn't the legal man. This allows Abyss to come from behind and hit Steiner with the Black Hole Slam for the victory. I've heard talk about how Vince Russo isn't the main writer in TNA and somebody else is doing the honors. I almost have to call bulls*** on that report when I watch this. This has Vince Russo written all over it. Overbooked as hell and not making any sense. Either Russo is back in charge or TNA managed to find writers dumber than Russo. Creative members worse than Russo? That's enough to scare the s*** out of you. After the match, Steiner and Bully managed to send Abyss through the table, but he no sells it to show the monster is back....again. The heels run away as Abyss is freaking out. It's really hard for me to be interested in the monster side of Abyss returning when it has been done over a thousand times. It's like beating a dead horse. Then again, it's TNA.

Match #7: Velvet Sky vs Gail Kim for the KO Title
Tazz is now building up his catchphrase of "letting the pigeons loose". Notice how Tazz puts so much excitement into that one line, but is bored for the rest of the night. Man, even sitting next to Tenay can make you boring. Gail was dominating this match, but Velvet did show some fight. She hit X Factor, but Karen Jarrett distracts the referee. Madison Rayne shows up to attack Velvet, but Velvet stills kicks out. Thank you TNA for a pointless interference. There was more shenanigans as this match would go on. Gail finally hits her finisher and we have a new champ. So, you invested the better part of half the year to finally let Velvet get the title, but the title reign only last a month? This is very poor writing. I also think it was all done too fast. Gail shows up for a month and already owns the entire division? It happened way too soon. They could've really built this entire thing up, but this is really rushed. Then again, TNA has been doing that a lot lately. Actually, pro wrestling has been doing that a lot lately.

Backstage where Eric Bischoff is arguing with whom I will assume is his wife. He talks about how Garrett is a punk and she should've been on birth control. I guess Bischoff isn't winning Father of the Year. Anyway, Bully starts complaining in how Abyss is back. Bully says Bischoff needs to do something, but Bischoff says otherwise. They will come up with a plan to deal with Abyss down the road. This is really put on TV to show the downfall of Immortal. I guess TNA really wants to release Volumn Two of that Immortal DVD as soon as possible. What? No Best of Sonjay Dutt DVD?

Match #8: Jeff Hardy vs Jeff Jarrett
This match had to be the definition of giving the fans what they want. Then again, these fans seem very interested in Steiner taking a s*** on a toilet, but no matter. What the hell is Hardy wearing as he goes to the ring? Was that the Zora mask from Majora's Mask? Is Hardy going to start playing a fishscale guitar? As soon as the bell rings, Hardy hits Twist of Fate and wins the match. I think at this point, people are screaming at their TV sets. Hardy actually agreed to giving Jarrett another rematch, who is bitching and moaning about the previous match. So, did TNA just do a spoof on the Hardy match that happened at Victory Road 2011? Quite ridiculous. The second match last for a while longer, but it ends with Hardy countering a Figure 4 attempt into a roll up victory. Hardy celebrates as Jarrett continues complaining. He actually gets a chair and hits Hardy in the head, which is pretty stupid on TNA's part. As Hardy is saying thank you for the possible concussion, Jarrett tosses him back in the ring and hits the Stroke. Jarrett and Karen are ordering the referee to make this an official match, but he doesn't seem interested. Since Earl Hebner has no backbone, he starts to make the count. Hardy counters Jarrett's pinfall attempt with another roll up and wins for the third straight time. After the match, the TNA locker room is showing respect for Hardy. Yeah, congratulations for winning two of those three matches with a s****y roll up. I didn't like this segment. I understand what they're trying to do.....somewhat. They wanted Hardy to overcome adversity by defeating the guy who doesn't want him here, but why three ridiculous matches that make no impression? I think it would've done a lot more if Hardy was taken to the limit, but still able to win the match cleanly. This just comes off as lazy in my eyes and a very cheap way of sending the fans home happy. Then again, why should it matter if the fans leave happy? They aren't even paying to watch the PPV. Just another reason to leave the Impact Zone more often, if not, forever.

Match #9: Robert Roode vs AJ Styles for the TNA World Title
FINALLY!!! We get to someone who actually gives a crap. Roode talks about how he is leading a new generation of selfishness. He is done with being a nice guy and it's all about him and the world title. Roode showed a lot of energy and passion in this promo. This basically shows how Roode makes for a better heel than a face, which is what I've been saying for the last few weeks. This was hands down the best match of the night. Great back and forth action between Roode and Styles. During the match, Roode is starting to show frustration for not being able to put away AJ. There was even a point where Roode begged AJ to not attack and he was sorry, but AJ doesn't buy his crap. Like the Morgan/Crimson match, this match told a good story. The finish comes when Roode counters the Styles Clash with a roll up. He grabs the tights and steals this match. The show ends with Roode celebrating as if he just won the Super Bowl. The finish guarantees a rematch between these two. I personally wouldn't mind a rematch since the match was pretty good. Roode needed the heelish victory to add to his heel character and to really build up his selfishness.

Overall Impression:
I am trying to think of a way to put over Turning Point, or recommend it.....but I can't do it. There was just too much bulls*** for me to really like this PPV from top to bottom. A lot of these matches were overbooked. Reckon, overbooking is going to happen in wrestling, but you really need to space them out or else you will really take people out of the evening. There was only three matches I really liked at the end of the day. I enjoyed the X Division match, the Crimson/Morgan match for the storytelling aspect of their program, and the main event. Want to know the real crime? It's a crime that a great match like Roode/Styles got stuck in a garbage PPV. The balance between good and bad wasn't there tonight since TNA had a lot of overbooking and a lot of silly things. I look at this show and it doesn't even feel like a PPV. It feels more like a bad episode of Impact with that one great match. The PPV didn't get off to a great start with a comedy match. The overbooking of Mexican America doesn't help either. You can easily be taken out of this PPV in a matter of minutes. The PPV did grab my attention when the X Division match started, but I started to lose interest again when the Immortal match started. After that, it just becomes a downward spiral until the main event. I want to be fair and say there was some decent wrestling matches tonight. The RVD/Daniels match might be considered good, but the lack of story didn't get me interested. Plus, the match was a little underwhelming than what I got at the end of the day. At least in my eyes. That was the main problem of the PPV in general, lack of storytelling. There was a lot of these matches that got thrown together at the last moment without much of a storyline. How will people care about the wrestling match if they don't care about the storyline? You kinda need both elements in order to make for an entertaining evening, but one of those elements was missing, which is why I can see many people disliking the PPV at the end of the day. Time to grade the PPV. On a scale of 1-10 and 5 being considered average on my show, I give Turning Point a 3 out of 10. This was not a great evening by TNA. I really felt like they could've done a lot better. I would even say some of their recent episodes on Thursday night were more entertaining than Turning Point. The main event might be the reason the PPV got an extra point, cuz I was tempted to give this PPV a 2. I remember last year's Turning Point, which I named the Worst PPV of 2010, and I'm not even sure if tonight's Turning Point was better than that. I think tonight's main event just barely gives it the edge, but that isn't anything to be proud of. I can already hear the TNA fanboys ready to tear me a new one for talking about how I didn't like this PPV. Complain all you want, but you won't change my opinion. Plus, TNA fanboys focus more on the negative things I say as opposed to the good things. I enjoyed the main event, so that should be worth something. By the way, did you catch a lot of the Zelda references in this review? There is two good reasons for that. One, Skyward Sword comes out next week, which I am super excited for. The other? Well......come back later in the week to find out (Epic foreshadowing?). That's going to do it for the review and I hope you enjoyed it.
